cmatthes Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I'd heard of a Cherry Metalflake one out there, but this is the first time I've actually seen one/it. Stunning! Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!!
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 We have a member who lives in Santiago, Chile.
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 That's a hot guitar. Somebody's gonna pounce!
Caddie Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 All those frets confuse me. I can't recall being required to go past #17. And another thing! Other than aliens, who has those tiny little fingers to get down there & use #34 or #35 or #36? caddie

Other than aliens, who has those tiny little fingers to get down there & use #34 or #35 or #36? caddie All i know is that some day, i'd love to try... I think those uber-high notes would work great with some two-hand shtuff, but you'd need to use the pick to get in there.

Other than aliens, who has those tiny little fingers to get down there & use #34 or #35 or #36? caddie Wasn't the scale length on the Virts 26 1/2"? I'm sure it's still a tight spacing, but it wouldn't be as close a fret spacing as a 24 3/4 or even 25 1/2 would be. So even a chubby fingered alien might be able to shred a little back on it's mothership with Virt in paw/hand
cmatthes Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 The upper frets are pretty much upper-register mandolin spacing based on the ones I've played (5 or 6 of them over the years). I don't know that I'd ever get much past the 26th or 27th fret - I barely used the last couple frets on my Cali. Still, cool to have if you ever wanted it. I think once you get past 32 frets, dogs and dolphins are going to be the only ones to appreciate it anyway!
Jones Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I don't think I have ever used anything above the 7th fret. My dream is to have a guitar like Scott Ian from Anthrax had - no frets after the 7th.
Guest JackButler Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I guarantee you that I'd have NO problem getting up there.. iirc the scale length IS longer than norm. Pretty instrument. Anyone think this is gonna stay at $2500?
cmatthes Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I think it SHOULD go higher, but the market is a bit odd right now. It may very well go to a non-US buyer as well, since the dollar isn't so perky these days. Two or three years ago, it would have probably been over $4k at this point in the auction...
kizanski Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Two or three years ago, it would have probably been over $4k at this point in the auction...Two or three years ago, it would have been GONE already.
silentman Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 That is the coolest color I've seen on a virt yet. Ebony board would rule on that.
