well, it was bound to have to go sometime...the Virtuoso

I'm flying home to the States for Thanksgiving...first proper turkey in eight years!! It has gotten me thinking, about how time passes, and when I joined this board eleven years ago. Back in those days, I think I logged in about 10-15 times a day...

I've let most of my collection go, in private sales here in Korea (NOT the doubleneck! That one goes to the grave with me!). And that's the thing: I basically have two guitars and one bass I can't live without (the Cali doubleneck, my franken-Cali-Centaura (Cali neck, Centaura body), and my Chap 5 string bass.

The others, I can. And so, here we go:

more pictures available on request. There's a ding in the heel - try spotting it through all that snakeskin airbrushing though  I have owned this one for eight years, and it was definitely played until 2007. The neck is perfect - when I got it, and strung it 10-48, it took, god, something like six months for the neck to settle in. But I had snagged it from a shop where it had hung for ten years with the truss rod loose...

I nearly put Sperzels on it several times (all my other guitars have them), but this one is the only guitar I've owned that has escaped molestation.

This is a very special guitar - even if it weren't so rare. The 26.5" scale length and scalloping, and the sounds you get from it - it's more touch responsive in terms of tone (does that make sense?), and despite its mad shredder design, I used it for mostly clean and slightly overdriven sounds, as well as when I wanted to play classical fingerstyle (through an acoustic amp modeler or something of the sort). It has taken me about a year of thinking to decide that it deserves a better home.

I'm not desperate for cash, but I will accept reasonable offers. I strongly prefer to keep this one in the family, and for it to go someplace where it be will valued, and I also prefer it to be someone I'm familiar with...I haven't spent much time here in the past...three years or so? So lots of new faces...

Anyways, instead of throwing her up on eBay, if you're interested, please email me at (my user name) AT gmail.com. I'd rather not haggle - just let me know how much you're willing to offer, and highest bidder wins. I guess some guidelines - based on what I've been offered for it in the past, probably more than $4K, but I have no idea how the recent economy has affected guitar prices. And $350 is acceptable...for the OHSC! :D

Shipping: I can box or crate this one up and send it from Korea...that'll run, I think something like $200? Because I am very nervous about shipping this guitar, I'm thinking of hand-carrying it with me, and since part of my stay will be in Nashville, paying Gruhn Guitars to ship it - they know a thing or two about shipping rare guitars! If you're IN Nashville or are willing to drive there to pick it up, I would much rather prefer that. I am also driving up to Toledo Ohio and passing through Columbus, so if you're along the way, I can drop it off.

And I'm not looking for trades, or P/X deals. Cash only, Paypal is fine too. I knew this one would be a hard one to let go, but I'm pretty sure I'm making the right decision, and traveling to the States is the perfect opportunity to safely repatriate this guitar.

In my dream, this is one of those under-valued Hamers and nobody's really keen on it. I keep a straight face as I act all talked-into-it...

Yowza. Let me go check my powerball numbers.

Almost gacked my keyboard with excitement.

Curious guitar. Look at the pickup. Is it neck or bridge? I can't decide.

I HATE Floyds, DETEST scalloped fretboards, LOATHE maple fretboards, am ANNOYED to the point

of insanity over reverse headstocks, and can't IMAGINE owning a "graphics" guitar...Yet, for some

strange reason, this is like the 20th time I've been in this thread...
