Hey guys, I own an Analogman SD-1/808 modded pedal, an Analogman DS-1 Super modded pedal and a Keeley BD-2 Phat mod pedal. I used to use them along with my H&K Tubeman preamp pedal. Now I hardly use any of them except the BD-2 Phat mod pedal for a clean boost. The DS-1 Super mod I've had forever and it will stay in the collection. I'll probably use them again if I have to use a tube amp that is totally clean and needs overdrive/distortion pedals. At this point, I have a decent collection of amps so I won't be using or borrowing anyone else's amp. I mostly use my modded ADA MP-1 preamps (3TM & Mod 4 MarkII), the Marshall 6101 1x12 combo, the Omega Amps modded Hot Rod Deluxe or the Rocktron Vendetta (modded by Bruce Egnater, thanks Kurtsstuff!!). The best overdrive sounds, IMHO, comes from tubes being pushed hard. I've gone down the road of the clean amp being slammed with overdrive/distortion pedals and I've found myself dissatisfied with that tone. If it works for other people, that's cool. Guitar George

Reproduction Hamer logo decals available?
Hamer95USA replied to jwood's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Hey guys, Hellrider67, the guy the moderators suspended, had his Phantom GT headstock decal made by Monster Guitar Shop. Here is the link: http://monsterguitarshop.com/ He also made a Steve Stevens decal for my friend's damaged SS1 headstock repair. Give him a call. Guitar George -
Hey BCR Greg, Thanks for sharing the video. I've seen the Wooten Brothers before from this video. It's pretty cool way of showing the guitar & bass as a percussive instrument. Guitar George

Hey people, Count this one as the one that got away!!! The guy (nbptrading) that bought it also seems to be reselling a lot of Hamers guitars as well as buying. I've been on auctions where I've seen that screenname before. Guitar George

Hey Kilroy is all about..., The amp has the original Groove Tubes 12AX7 preamp tubes in position V1 & V3, a TAD 12AX7 high gain preamp tube in V2 and the original Groove Tubes 6L6GC power tubes. You can have the nice blackface cleans and the drive/more drive has a nice Marshallesque/Dumble overdrive tone all at the tap of a channel switching footswitch. Nice medium wattage amp for those "grab and go" gigs, jam night or for at home playing. This amp will kick ass over any stock Hot Rod Deluxe out there that I've played. If you're out in the northern California Bay Area, contact me and I can arrange some time to let you audition the amp. Guitar George

Hello Hamer Fan Club musicians, I have decided to sell off my Omega Amps modded Fender USA Hot Rod Deluxe combo amp. I have too many amps in my collection and would like something else instead. This amp has been modified by Jim Price of Omega Amps(former amp builder for Cesar Diaz). If you want to know the details about the Hot Rod Deluxe mods, here is the link: http://www.omegaamps.com/mods2.html http://members.cox.net/brugly/music/no%20use.mp3 This clip is by Gear Page member, "Stelligan", who owns the same amp & speaker that I have. The amp has a great sounding blackface clean channel and the drive/more drive channel nails the early '70s Marshall sound. Upgraded input jacks, improved tone stack & drive master volume control makes this amp a great sounding workhorse for recording or for live applications. I am including the channel switching footswitch (clean/drive & more drive), custom made waterproof, nylon Tuki amp cover, Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker, custom made 10' & 20' footswitch cables. My asking price is $850.00 or best offer or will trade for a Hughes & Kettner Triamp/cash. Guitar George

Hey guys, My buddy Gary Jackson, ex-bassist for Con Funk Shun(R.I.P.), used to tour with Billy Preston. Billy Preston's contribution to music, especially the Beatles, is immense. What a shame he died at a young age. Guitar George

Hey guys, I saw Saigon Kick open for Dream Theater many years ago. I thought they were a great band and had cool songs. Later on, it turned out that Jason Bieler is a crook and ripped off his bandmates. I don't think there will be a reunion anytime soon. Guitar George

95 Vintage S
Hamer95USA replied to silentman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Hey silentman, I hate you for selling such a cool guitar even though I have a mid '80s MIJ Fender Strat that I love playing on. And to top it off, I don't have the funds to acquire the guitar for my collection. Damn you!!! I just wanted to give you a bump for your sale. I hope that someone will buy this beautiful Vintage S. Hey poe, Sorry to hear that you're having problems with your acoustic guitar sound. You may want to consider having an acoustic guitar preamp to eq your acoustic guitar. If you're asking to recommend a powered mixer, I use the Mackie 808S powered mixer and Yamaha S115IV Club series mains and S115IV monitors. It sounds good and is affordable. I use this system in the various cover bands that I work with and found it reliable, good user interface and easy to get a good sound from. Guitar George

Any Dave Matthews fans or haters?
Hamer95USA replied to DavidE's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Hey guys, Dave Matthews is not my favorite musician. I tried to be open minded and listen to his music. I can only tolerate a couple of songs myself and that's it. Definitely not my cup of tea, but the rest of his band is talented. Guitar George -
What I learned at 06 NAMM...
Hamer95USA replied to SirDouglas's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Hey folks, I agree with the points Ted brought up about visitors attending NAMM. I have had the privilege to attend the NAMM convention for the last couple of years. My reasons for attending: View the newest gear from certain companies I'm interested in. Some of this stuff never gets ordered or is available at your local Guitar Center or mom & pop music store. I'm already interested in buying a couple of things that I saw at the convention. Make contacts with the companies. Endorsements or promotion of their products. I like the booth betties!! Photo and autograph signing sessions. Oppurtunities to meet your favorite musicians or artists. I would have never met some of the well known musicians that I've met if it wasn't for attending NAMM. Company after parties. A chance to see famous musicians perform onstage in the hotel ballrooms or clubs. Networking or meeting other people in the music business that are not necessarily related to retail. I made contact with a few cool people that I might need to hook up with in the future. Hey polara, What is so bad about playing neo classical type or "shred" style of guitar playing? It seems everybody here thinks it't the anti-Christ or something. Those guys played on some great albums and I like their style of playing. I don't sit here and slam anyone for their appreciation of certain players. Hmm... Guitar George

Not trying to show you up or anything, but...... .....it wasn't a local cable TV show, it was a "special live" (as the Japanese call it) in Tokyo FM's studio (not a minor place by any means). Secondly, George Lynch is HUGE here in Japan. I'm quite sure the audience knew who he was. George's most recent visit was pretty productive. In addition to the jam with Char at Tokyo FM, he also did the Japan Musical Instruments Fair (jam session with the new "young gun" in Japan Takayoshi Omura ) and he's also featured in the January '05 Recording magazine with Char. BTW: Char has a shitload of cool Voxes, Carrs, Strats and Teles. Hey tombo, Thanks for the information and for correcting me on my assumption. No offense taken, dude. Guitar George

Hey guys, BCR Greg- Thanks for sharing the George Lynch & Char guitar jam at the local Japanese cable show. I've seen this video on the Huge Racks Inc. website. I thought it was kind of cool to watch Char, George Lynch and the female vocalist jamming on some cover tunes of Hendrix and the Beatles. I didn't expect Lynch to be playing these songs note for note, just him jamming over the changes while Char did the rhythm parts, vocals and some leads. The young female vocalist sounded cool and complemented the jam session. It was fun watching the video to see Lynch cutting loose in his style, jamming on classic rock songs to a Japanese local cable audience who probably have no idea who he is. Lynch exhibited a different side to his playing somewhat, he has good tone and used effects tastefully. Total ESP endorsement!! I would have to agree that Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman. Ritchie Kotzken, etc. made a musical career from the Japanese market. Most of these guys are Americans and haven't got the recognition for their talent here in the U.S. It's a shame for that to happen, but the music business is very unfair towards the "shredder" guitarists. If I was of the stature of the guys mentioned above, I would leave the U.S. market and go to either Japan or Europe. The U.S. music market is saturated with young and mostly untalented vocal artists created from American Idol, etc. Musicians and bands of worthy talent, regardless of genre, go unregonized in this country because of MTV, Fuse and Clear Channel Communications controlling the content of what is shown on cable, satellite or television. I have to seek out the artists I like by visiting their websites to see what's going on with them, buying their CDs and attending their shows. That's because the record companies are not supporting their older artists. Bummer. Today's pop culture can go into the garbage can. Guitar George

Hey gwayne, I've played my friend's late '80s Standard before so I knew how cool Hamer guitars felt and sounded like. I still have the 1995 Studio. This guitar is my first Hamer USA guitar I ever bought a 1 1/2 ago. She's well cared for in my stable of guitars. I gave her a new set of Dimarzio pickups (PAF Pro and a Tone Zone). I didn't bond with the sound of the Gibson Burstbucker Pro guitar pickups I bought a while back and traded them off to a friend. I have also rewired the bridge volume pot to the front position and the neck volume pot to the middle position. When I purchased the guitar a couple of years ago, it had Seymour Duncan Custom & Custom Custom with push/pull coil taps. I didn't like the sound of those pickups and sold them off. Here is a picture of her now with her Dimarzios pickups in it: Guitar George

Hey pirtateflynn, I saw that guitar on E-bay and thought it was a good deal if you wanted to do the repairs to bring it back to its stock specifications. The Carvin mods were awful. Why didn't the owner just buy a Carvin or modify the volume and tone pots? When I bought my '95 Studio, all of my volume and tone pots were push/pull pots. I didn't care for the sound and had my local guitar repairman put everything back to stock. I recently changed the bridge and neck pickups volume pots to where the bridge pickup volume knob is in front and the neck volume knob is in the middle. I'm a lot happier with the functionality of the guitar now and find it easier to adjust the volume knobs when I play on it. I need to now contact Kim Keller for original Hamer volume and tone pots. I would love to see how the restoration project will turn out. Who's going to do the restoration work? BCR Greg? Guitar George

Need "rack" advice-- ? preamp?
Hamer95USA replied to sirDaniel's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Hey sirdaniel, You want this: This is a 3TM modded ADA MP-1 preamp by ADA Depot. This circuitboard is based upon amp modder/ maker Todd Langner's original 3TM mod circuitboard for Paul Gilbert. Instead of the stock 2 12AX7 preamp tube circuitboard, it has 3 12AX7 preamp tubes. The circuitboard also has an EQ mod added to it. The EQ mod allows the user to fine tune the mid to low frequency balance control & mid/low to high frequency balance control. Turning the mid to low frequency balance control clockwise adds more beef and turning mid/low to high frequency balance control clockwise makes the tone brighter. The EQ problems associated with the previous stock versions now are eliminated with the EQ mod now. The clean tube channel now overdrives easily and become very "brown" sounding, the distorted tube channel has tons of gain and the solid state channel has that great sounding Roland JC-120 sound that I love. I've had my original one for 12 years now, had it modded with a 3TM mod and upgraded the software & hardware. Now it's a new preamp with a killer tube crunch, a very brown sounding clean tube channel, EQ mod, noise mod, software upgrade, new lithium battery and battery holder (user serviceable), new input jack and a rear input jack conversion (originally a line input jack). I also bought a used 3TM modded MP-1 preamp from board member kurtsstuff with the same mods mentioned above. If you see these used 3TM modded ADA MP-1 preamps up for sale. Get one. It's truly a weapon of mass destruction. Guitar George -
Hey MTM105, I just sent my old Japanese Boss DS-1 Distortion to AnalogMan to have the Super mod done to it. It should get rid of most of the noise and improves the sound of the pedal. You may consider having a few of your overdrive/distortion pedals modified by Analogman or Keeley for an improved tone. Guitar George

How do you get the 80's hair band sound?
Hamer95USA replied to nosajwp's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
yeah, guys like eric johnson, jeff beck, and SRV were trying to get that elusive ratt/crue "tone" all the wrong way; they needed a bunch of rack gear and floyded guitars, not stompboxes/tube amps/vintage guitars. what a bunch of idiots! ha. Hey Brooks, I saw your posting. I was making a joke about the gear that I use in the pictures by impersonating Arnold Schwarzenegger's dialog. I wasn't slagging the specific players or their playing styles that you mentioned, hence the emoticon with the one eye winking as a sort of joke. If you took offense to my pun, I apologize, dude. I guess since I use guitars with Floyd Rose bridges and rack gear, that must make me an idiot too. Guitar George -

Hey guys, You mean like this: My club guitar rack system: My large guitar rack system: I am the rack master!! Controller of all things MIDI, preamp, effects, power amp. You guys with your little girlie man foot pedals and combo amps can eat my shorts!! You love the "Monster" guitar rack system because it's heavy to make you use your little girlie muscles, loud enough to anger everyone, and lots of programming to make your brain work. Remember, I'm here to pump you and your guitar up!!! Guitar George -
