I've hesitated about that one. I used to like Steve Vai a lot, and I actually own all his albums --excepting the last two or three ones. But I don't know why, I just suddenly lost interest on his stuff. Well, maybe it's time for me to go back to it?

I'll get the three of them -"Alive!", "Dressed to Kill" and "Revenge". Let's see how I like KISS then. BTW, I just saw I have "Destroyer" at home. Barely remember it, but I didn't dislike it, if I remember well.

I don't think KISS is a bad band, but always thought they were overrated. But what do I know? I'm from a post-KISS generation. Can someone here point me to a good compilation of theirs, please? Or maybe some of their outstanding albums? I do want to "get" it!

My colleague who likes blues and is a big fan of John Mayer made a compilation for me. I've been listening to it on and off during the weekend. While I haven't retained the song titles yet, I do realize the guy is a really good guitar player. OK, his style is maybe too polished for my tastes, maybe a tad overproduced, maybe not raw enough to be called "blues" and all... but boy you bet the man can play! Well, I do understand his mix of blues with pop and crooner-like ingredients can sound boring and too commercial for some (me included), but there's no way I would disrespect such a great guitarist. I short, I don't like his stuff that much, but there's no doubt he's a hell of a musician. In addition, he has managed to live from his craft. Hats off to him!

The Queensryche saga -long read, but it's worth reading.

I gave it some thought and I retract. I would in fact seriously consider it, if someone proposed me that gig. It is worth just for the exposure and because having that on one's CV would look really outstanding. It's also probable one would end playing with them some Queensryche songs we all love. Yet, I still don't get Rudy's position. -

Funny enough, the announcement doesn't say anything about Glen's pedigree. Anyway, that new band won't be Queensryche at all. As some posters said, it's just Tate's new band. The other Queensryche, with Todd La Torre fronting them, is way closer to what Queensryche used to be. Now a little reflection: I know money talks, but I still think they would have had to pay me a lot of money if they wanted me in Tate's new band. I know it's a lot of exposure; but of them all, the case I understand the less is Rudy's. It shouldn't be hard for that guy to score good gigs. I doubt he's in need of more visibility. So, why would one like him accept playing for Tate? -

It's quite rocking that line-up. Glen Drover can shred and has played with King Diamond and Megadeth, and also toured with Testament. -

Oh! Gaga is wearing a Megadeth T-shirt! Man, I would really love to hang out with her! -

Can't be truer my side. But I used to love those guys back in the day and now was just trying to find some consolation somewhere (snif, snif... ) -

Awesome album. Love it! --I'm just a Queen fan after all. -

Seriously, he sounds to me like a skilled politician trying to look surprised while facing corruption charges --"I didn't know", "they never told me", "the signed up, so they were happy" and so on... Bullsh$%t! If I add both stories and divide by two, I still think the band's outings are closer to the truth than Tate's. -
I already said it, but graphically, this is it: ...plus something more "metal" and "dark", such as this:

Getting into this -the new album from Testament: It's Testament, you know... Not groundbreaking at all, but still well-crafted old-school thrash with technical solos and a great modern production (by Andy Sneap). Quite enjoyable -and you can bang your head to it as well.

The agony part sucks. The other part, however, makes me wonder if I shouldn't be doing the same thing my side. Funny enough, I always cite Brian May as one of my biggest influences. However, in my whole life I've learned "for real" just one of his solos ("Somebody to Love"), some few riffs ("Ogre Battle", "Stone Cold Crazy", "Bohemian Rhapsody"...) and just played three or four Queen songs ("Play The Game", "Tie Your Mother Down", "We Are The Champions"...). Of course, I've been certainly inspired by his playing and his tone ("Mustapha", "I Want It All", "The Show Must Go On", "Dead On Two Legs", "Dreamer's Ball"...) but never got into learning his stuff note-by-note --not because I thought it was beyond my reach, but just because I felt it was not "of my generation". It's maybe time for me to follow your example and do it for real, don't you think?

We were talking about old mainstream music, so I just went through a pile of old CD's I have in my basement and came out with this: Will start playing it right away.

After "L'Enfant Sauvage", I'm sunk into Gojira over-consumption. Woke up listening to their first album, "Terra Incognita":

Wonderful! You rock, man!

We have talked a lot about Brian May lately, so yesterday night I watched the DVD "Queen - An Evening At The Concert Hall", which just came out but it's from 1977 (visibly a transfer from old tapes). The image quality is pretty bad, but the sound is OK and it's anyway great to see them rocking in their heydays. Brian May is definitively a Guitar god. PS: A link to the DVD in Amazon (I got it for 14.99 + taxes at the local HMV store): http://www.amazon.com/Queen-Evening-The-Concert-Hall/dp/B007K0PSZ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343125692&sr=8-1&keywords=queen+an+evening+at+the+concert+hall

excellent. Yes, Adams a bit broadway, but that fits Queens music. another good one. He looks a bit too young and I remembered him hitting some wrong notes in previous shows, but the videos above prove he does have it. I'll swallow my tongue and look forward to watch Queen + Adam Lambert on tour. I'm convinced!

I'm right now working on a couple of songs for DOA next year (I'm not sure if I will be able to make it, but anyway...). Sadly, I'm missing the Chicago party but Gene, please, organize something in Washington with Dave. We need to do that one!

Be ensured he has my complete respect too.
