  1. The one for sale is a 1992 model, so not the catalog Virt, eh?
  2. It most certainly would not be original.
  3. Correct - the SS2 is also more contoured. Those are both SS-1s.
  4. Agreed - the Fuschia one is a refin.
  5. Jol has the Ferrari red one with the LED button in the monkey grip. He recently posted a pic of it in his blog too...
  6. I WON a Steve Vai autographed Ibanez back in the very early '90s as winner (or loser?!) of "the Worst Guitarist on Delmarva" Competition. I'm going to have to dig up that article as there is Hamer content...
  7. The truth? I witnessed the press release of that model within minutes of it being trumpeted on Gibson's website. Within a few short hours, there were HUNDREDS of hateful, mocking and just plain funny posts, lambasting Gibson for even thinking of releasing that abomination. Within 12 hours, the site had crashed twice and every gear site was pointin to it , almost unanimously poking fun at the horse's ass who greenlit that piece if shit. The site was scrubbed clean within 48 hours and all mention of the model disappeared. GONE. I think the negative backlash was simply too much, and I'll bet some idiot(s) got canned.
  8. Tobe - you are correct about that being a "magical scale"! I first got an appreciation for this one playing Hamerica's through a little Gibby tube amp down in the Korina forest. I believe I declared it the ultimate power pop guitar. Chimey and just full sounding as all get out. Magical indeed!
  9. Paul still owns his - a Korina one with a Sustainblock. They are not one trick ponies, for sure. Really unique sound/tone and a cool scale length. I honestly have little use for things in the "dogs & Dolphins" upper registers, but they are something worth checking out if you ever have the chance.
  10. ... Or petty jealousy.
  11. Guitar shows in the '80s and '90s were a blast. I stopped going at some point in the late '90s, just because with the dominance of eBay, they mostly sucked.
  12. My son ("Yellovee", here on the HFC) is just under an hour northwest of you in Boulder...
  13. Hamer sent a SS-1 to a Canadian case manufacturer to make a template for that model (they switched from the original mfr., apparently). The guitar had been painted, but for whatever reason - flaw, overstock, whatever, it was pulled off the line and sent as a "Case Plug" or "Form". It never had a single screw turned on it, nor any hardware installed. Steve snagged a few of those on eBay when buying cases on eBay years ago. He sold it as he got it, I don't know...7-8 years ago maybe?
  14. It was posted before - I don't believe seller is a member. There's more to the story here too. I sent a message that was ignored.
  15. This is just so incredibly cool!
  16. He never actually had it, so we'll probably never know.
  17. Again, I'm well aware of the history. I recall very vividly discussing the mods with you (Serial) before they happened. If I recall, my old RP1 went into that Sunburst... )
  18. I'm WELL aware of my facts here. Didn't bother me. I bought it to play it not hang it up!
  19. If memory serves, YOU were the one who routed the middle humbucker before I got it - I didn't have the beaver rout/single coil or whatever was in there before I owned it. Nothing but a couple insignificant lines between the mounting rings and it played great.
  20. Wow. "Holier that thou" attitude? Sure seems like I'm entitled to my own valid opinion. Looks like I struck a nerve. It was just fine and dandy when I owned it.
  21. Peter is the master of understatement...
