Guitar Center having another sale.
Mike_C replied to Submariner85's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Well Seems like slamming GC is a regular sport around here. I'm not crazy about them but when it comes to strings and accesories you can't beat them. In my area it's all pretty much chain stores whether the local regional chain which was never all that good when it came to guitars or GC. I won't bash my local GC since they seem to be doing pretty well and have had a nice selection of guitars. nothing I would kill for but some nice LP's and a really nice 2004 Artist custom for 1200. They are what they are the 800 pound gorilla. But when it comes to a large selection of Mexi strats for 300 you can't beat them. -

Cream at Royal Albert Hall DVD/CD
Mike_C replied to Willie G. Moseley's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I gave the cd a listen to because I had the same thoughts. Personally I thought it was a safe version of Cream. Yes they are older but that doesn't mean that they have to be slower and safer. Just look at Iggy Pop for example. I was disapoited about the use of a strat instead of a Les Paul yes it was close but it wasn't the same. It was fun to listen to but I won't be getting it since I prefer the stuff that was done back in the day. Just my two cents. BTW I didn't think of it as a money grab performance although given the ticket prices I could see why some would think that but to me it was lacking the magic that I would expect from such a reunion. -
My Condolences on the loss of your Mom.

+1 what Mike said -
Depending on the dates I'd be up for a road trip.

Actually I have a custom order that was supposed to be ready for the Open house so I will be up that way anyhow to pick it up. I agree the tour is one thing but the get together the Jam Dinner at Sophia's that is what made it cool.

Damn that looks like the cover of the long lost 80's hamer catalog that never was. VERY VERY COOL SHOT. Very Nice whoever took the photo.

Gotta have flames

For me I really like the Squirel Nut Zippers and I know it's cliche but I like the neo swing bands like Royal Crown Revue or Big Bad Voodoo Daddy or Goth swing Lee Press-on and the Nails (I know I know but its a real band.) For old school guilty pleasures it's the Ohio Players ( hey if just for the cover art alone) and Donna Summer. ( did I really just admit to liking Love to love you baby?)

Love is like a Rock. Donnie Iris that is a good one Poe. Poptopia vol 1 through 3 is a good starting point for some cool tunes from lesser knowns Elvis Brothers a band I saw open for Cheap Trick that put out a couple of Albums but never really took off. I'm not sure how popular they are but I really been getting into the Exies first cd Also Tito and Tarantula Probably best known as the house band in the Movie Dusk til Dawn Tarantism has some killer stuff on it My chemical romance is cool in a goth meets teen angst movie sountrack sort of way And from the cutout bin from work a band called H.I.M. pretty cool stuck a bit dark lyrically but still all in all worth checking out And from the the cutout bin at work a band or performer H.I.M. cool stuff kind

I didn't know they could do a blended heel on a Monaco being that it's mostly hollow.

here is a good stand not to much coin either. perfect for Standards I have 3 of them. Ultimate's Genesis 100 Guitar Stand
-
Very Cool I just noticed that this watson is more like a Watson meets cali since it has the slanted neck pickup like a cali. below is a photo of Jeff with his Watson from back in the day neck pickup is straight not slanted.
-
Damn That's a nice fine family of guitars you got there. Hell with the three (two standards and the cali) it's always the fourth of July.

Congrats cool guitar. Hamer had a great week.
