  1. Oh yeah... just got a photo from Dan showing me the prelim design. After a few tweaks to the design and the clear applied, it's off to my tech for re-assembly. This is gonna be killer... patience is waning... Two "new" Cali's on the way. Nevermind christmas, gonna get my presents in Nov.
  2. Jeez, Badger, that sure is purdy. I mean it- I'd consider owning one like (Dibs! if you ever sell it! ) it even with that Kahler!
  3. +1 I started reading about all the hot shot ax-slingers who were using the big blocks along with numerous testimonies of us regular joes and decided it was worth the 35 bucks to see if it was hogwash or real deal. $35.00 to bump up the low end and sustain? Better than adding another pedal into the signal chain... Titanium is NOT as affordable!
  4. Too bad it is attached to that Steinberger.........
  5. Tell it to Satchel. Satch uses a fairly strict EVH style approach to his whammying. I love Satch's playing but I saw him in concert and he doesn't use the bar nearly as much as one might imagine. Lots of hand vibrato and the occasional wide vibrato w/ the Floyd & dive bomb. I was disappointed that there wasn't more inventive or adventurous use. Satch gets more tail because Satch can still get away with wearing spandex and and ripped fishnet shirts. I've heard the comments of the chicks in the audience- they could care less about the music- they're there 1st and foremost for Satch's eye candy.
  6. Jay said it, others backed it and I'll add to it- big block. I've played Floyded axes for the better part of 24 years (DON'T do the math) and I never bought into the hype around the big blocks until recently. I put one on my Cali LE and WOW! I could really hear and feel the difference. I'm not gonna say the Big Block is the only thing that impacts the sustain and feel but in the case of that Cali, it was. Brooks, you da man! Love your style. Folks that can't/won't pull up on a Floyd are just not getting the whole benefit. Period.
  7. That gets said around here a lot! This could be the 2nd nice one I've inherited from Peter.
  8. Aside from the continued flow of merch and touring revenue, what's the point? Tail? I think not. Even with a fistful of Viagra, groupies in Gene and Paul's age bracket are likely to be contemplating the early bird dinner specials in Florida and scheduling their first hip replacement...
  9. Crap. Can't get YouTube @ work....
  10. I keep validating my GAS by offering up less- desirable scenarios. As in, "Would you rather I collect guitars or chase women half my age?" Thus far, I've managed to dodge every household item that has been thrown at me... But seriously, I need to make this guitar... so, I need to get my hands on yet one more reverse-heady Cali.
  11. Anymore reverse head stocked Cali Elites/LE's out there? In any condition? I am bound and determined to create my finest FrankenCali yet with all the exact components and features I've yet to put all together. It will be my finest Cali creation! Mwah hah ha ha! Okay, I'm back to normal for the moment. Hit me up. Whatcha got?
  12. Not sure if that was directed at me but the answer is a resounding, "No!" Been follicle-ly depleted since I was in my late 20's and I have no intention of covering that up. Bald and bold, I say! PS- if that was not aimed at me, please excuse the primate chest thumping.
  13. Let me look thru my stock pile of crap. Might have one lying around.
  14. Different metal, the Schaller that we speak of has a cast alloy base plate and the OFR's and Gotoh's, and now the Schaller Lockmeister that Austin mentioned, have a sheet steel one. Also, just as a side line, with the Lockmeister it comes with OFR type long string lock screws but it can also use the short type so you can in effect have a steel base plate floyd in the smaller cast base plate route if that's your bag. Oh, and Schaller now plate their black screws and stuff with a different material so they don't rust immediatley like they used to......very handy if you're hyperuricemic like me. Good to know. Don't you just love a forum and it's members that keep a self-avowed Floyd whore like me in the know?
  15. I have a chrome OFR that I can sell him... I like chrome on my Harley... not on my guitars
  16. A bit late to the party but now that I've read it, I'm floored. What a douche bag. Funny thing is, I read it because a "friend" on FB who is a DJ and a promoter, posted that he had interviewed Tate and what a wonderful guy and performer he is. The accompanying photo tells a more plausible story...
  17. I tend to replace mine every 4- 5 years or so, depending on how much abuse they get, with a fresh Floyd. Such is my mania for whammy performance. Sadly, I only have black Schaller-mades, Hamer stamped or otherwise.
  18. Just wait 'til my midlife crisis custom arrives... Until then, I'll hve to content myself with this:
  19. Aw, c'mon...I'm telling Mom! No calling 'shotgun' until you're actually outside. Thus, no calling DIBS yet! (just kidding) Pipe down there, Tah-lee! You already have an SS!
  20. DIBS! Naturally, this is contingent on him selling it...
  21. If that had crowns & I could get away with Floyding it (ducking to avoid thrown objects) I'd consider it!
  22. Agreed! I still defy anyone to watch the Winterland performance on Kissology Vol. 1 and point out what's a joke about that. The "KISS" part. With respect to differing opinions, I'd have to disagree on that one, jwhitcomb3. I get that not everyone likes KISS but it's hard to dispute that during their heyday, and specifically, the Winterland show McChris is referring to, that they were anything less than killer. It was, for it's time, a spectacle beyond measure and the perfect brew of musicianship, showmanship and raw rock n roll guts. But that's my opinion-
  23. +1, I noticed that too. I didn't think too much about it at the time as I haven't followed KISS that closely lately, but you're right! P.S. I'd rather LAND in a B-17G (it's a G but probably painted up like a E model, the chin turret and cheek gun positions are a dead giveaway), than miss out on half the flight! Correct. It was a G built in 1945 but never engaged in combat bombing missions- it was then "recommissioned" as the 9-0-9 which did complete 150 missions and was a E class Fortress. I guess it depends on your perspective- to me, I got the best of both worlds- got to take off and fly in a WW2 era B-17 and then I got to indulge in my 2nd most favorite activity- skydiving from said B-17. I'd take skydiving over flying around any day of the week and twice on Sundays... The only thing that could've made it better were if they were piping Detroit Rock City thru speakers in the 9-0-9!!!
  24. Yeah, well I guess I'll wear a helmet cam on my next trip to New Orleans. Otherwise there's just no way. I'd like to see a pic of you wearing a helmet cam at a family function, Kiz.
