  1. Since they keep releasing new material, this is a possibility.
  2. Dang, I missed the original thread and was going to put in my two cents learned on a gig I played last year on a much larger than normal stage in a big place. Photo below....
  3. Dayum.... Middle school? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyqYEFRHI74...feature=related
  4. Paul bluesing up an Ace Frehley Les Paul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x9Er8s2heE&NR=1
  5. Forget the strings. Buy him one of those Planet Waves gizmos with a peg winder, tuner AND WIRE CUTTERS built in. LOL>... Too cool!
  6. People here do come to the aid of those in need, whether it be due to health problems making it difficult to care for children or even in the case of a victim of bullying having his guitar replaced. Despite outward appearances, there's a good group here. ;-)
  7. And now they use two Apple laptops to play along with....
  8. I've tried a bunch of Legend amps. I even remember one that had a Shure SM57 built in on a mic clip. I never thought they sounded that good. Must have been me!
  9. Anybody here familiar with campus evangelist Jed Smock and his story of Jed Smock vs. The Doobie Brothers? http://www.gospeltruth.net/whowillriseup.htm
  10. Maybe, maybe not. If the real world doesn't know or care then it may not affect prices. Besides, if the demand was not there for Hamer to continue making off the rack models, will demand really increase. With the change to custom order only, the supply side of the equation came to a grinding halt (at least once all existing stock is sold). I'll put up my Ultimate for $10k and see if I get any takers. ;-)
  11. Who is currently in charge of the Hamer brand?
  12. (Poe edit) Let's not go *there* again please. But I had a good reply!!! "That depends on what your definition of "is" is."
  13. I tend to agree with Greg here. We don't know if there's any reason to be anti Fender because we don't know any of the facts behind the split. It may have been perfectly amicable. Maybe it wasn't. Maybe Jol has other plans and this will ultimately be good for him. I guess I don't see the reason for the knee jerk reaction.
  14. I think that now labeling a Hamer as "pre Fender" is fair game. ;-) Is Frank Untemeyer still there? I just hope they don't put that Ken guy in charge.
  15. Maybe they ARE dead in the water?
  16. Is it time to write the HFC's obituary? ;-)
  17. How about Jol joins Joe Knaggs???
  18. Yes... ...and, Yes. I'm pretty common, but don't have much knowledge. So, what is being built other than Hamer, Ovation and Guild? What guitars are the Hamer guys building?
  19. Can anyone say with any certainty what guitars will be built in the former Hamer/Ovation facilities other than Hamer, Ovation and Guild? Are any of the Hamer guys working on Guilds?
  20. Hamer has had little visibility for a long time. Tom Dumont's use of many Hamers didn't seem to help much and he was probably the highest profile player to play Hamers in a long time except for Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. PRS's strategy has certainly paid off, but the guitars are great for the most part. I've noticed a lot more country players using PRS where Gibsons were big for a while (with Gibson being in Nashville). But then there's Taylor. Bob Taylor does not give away guitars, Yet they're all over the place and highly visible. So, I don't know that there's one strategy that works for every company and I don't have any expertise to make any suggestions in that regard. I own lots of Hamers, but I gig my PRSs. Why? They have a fantastic trem and are all more versatile than my Hamers (coil taps etc....) that make them more useful for gigging. For me. YMMV
  21. But how can the fat lady sing if she's dead in the water? This is getting confusing....
  22. EXACTLY. Anyone other than that is just shooting blanks. It seems strange that Jol would have the big internet push for the custom shop aspect over the last year, and continuing, if Hamer were going to cease operations. Why keep pushing something that's "dead in the water?" If anything, Jol and Hamer's custom guitars have been more visible lately. I thought I heard that some of the Ovation space was being dedicated to building Guild brand guitars. Perhaps Guild electrics will be built on the Hamer side if there's capacity.
