Pat said I can twist knobs to my heat's content and he'll readjust before they start. I'll check those voicing switches and see if I can dial it in quickly. If not, I'll get the Shiva set up in a few minutes. I just hope they get their sound check done early enough for me to mess with it. Or maybe I just take my Matchless Lightning 15 which takes no setup at all. :-)

My band is opening for a "national act" Friday night. Funny thing is that I played in the acoustic version of this act, the original band for this act was our band and we still share a drummer (not to mention the other guitar player on occasion). :-) Anyway, we're playing for an hour and I'm either going to use one of the guitar players' Mesa 4x12's with my Bogner Shiva head or I'll just use his whole rig. He plays through a Mesa 3 channel rectifier head and I really have no idea how they sound. Any thoughts on this? I figure I'll plug my rig into his head and try it and if I don't like it, I'll hook up my Shiva. I need clean and gain from the amp, but I don't want chunka chunka high gain mesa recto gain.

The Carvin and Reverend stuck out to me in that photo... Some very cool amps there too!

I have the plain jane 25th. Mine has Harmonic Design Z90's. I haven't played it in a long time and I really should....

I was watching my son play Charles Mingus tunes with the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra and then watched the Columbus Jazz Orchestra play with Ballet Met of Columbus. The dancing did nothing for me except reduce the performance of a great jazz band.

I really think that the relics bother the anti-relic crowd more than anything. Frankly, the insults are often over the top and discouraging. Rather than letting people like what they like on such an inconsequential issue, the anti-relic people take a holier than thou "I'm right and you're wrong" attitude and often get down right mean, insulting and well... they act like complete assholes. I think those reliced amps look cool.

So, is it ok to buy a used relic?

I dig the relic look. But more than that, I've really liked a lot of the relic strats I've played. I finally bought one, but I didn't like the way it looked in photos. It wasn't until I had the guitar in my hands that I had to have it.

The man was good. REAL good. I love what he added to LS.

I've been using the original version of the brick... orange juice or something... to power a few pedals. Works fine. It does have a wall wart, but that's cool. Even has three 18v power taps.

Yeah, I agree. Thay seriously rocked when I saw them. I had assumed that Elton was over-emphasizing his pop stuff but I've seen vids of him on Youtube from as late as 2007 doing "All The Young Girls Love Alice" and "Funeral For A Friend." Does he every play Captain Fantastic live? For some reason, that's always been one of my favorite EJ songs. [Nevermind. Lots of great examples on youtube from the 70's until today.]

I agree with pretty much what was said above. Some surprises for me were: Butch Walker. Fantastic at everything and a killer entertainer! Brooks and Dunn blew everyone away when I saw them at Farm Aid. Rolling Stones can be Aerosmith was not at most of the concerts I saw. They were at one. In the 80's, Frankie Goes to Hollywood put on one hell of a show. I think they're an invitation for the handlers to rough up the package. Even the person at FedEx Kinkos last time I shipped a guitar said she had them but recommended against using them. 2) That's always been the case. And if you didn't pack for that, good luck with a claim.

And so do they! We went out for dinner tonight to a new place and they had a "Royale with Cheese" on the menu. It also said that it's "a TASTY burger." My son thought that was awesome. :-) Of course some of their peers thought they were the Men in Black having not had the pleasure of seeing Pulp Fiction (one of my son's favorite movies).

I'll take photos at the gig tomorrow night, but here's my son and his friend Chad (who pretty much lives at my house) and their joint costume. 3 guesses....

That's like a 20 top!!!! But it's not a studio.
