  1. Yep. Makes the decision a whole lot easier. Not to ruffle any feathers, but for this initial run, anyone who orders outside of those original specs should probably be subject to the regular pricing (as yet to be fully determined). Its all about volume with minor variables to make it possible as such a fantastic price point. Basically echoing what you said Chris. Think we need more echos, as the message continues to get lost, apparently.
  2. Ya know, a quick run of t-shirts would sell out around here. A few hundred bucks is another tool in the shop... In for a shirt, if they happen. Not to speculate....
  3. It's great to see the crazy high amount of interest for Mike's work, though the speculation is probably better served if kept to yourself. Do we have to increase the pressure levels any higher than it might already be? Admittedly, I've had a lot of the same questions that have come up, but I'd rather hold off until things unfold and the ground is hit running. Not to mention having one in my hands. That's going to be fantastic. Speculation that I'm sure we can all agree on.
  4. Ooh! I love the one on the bottom right. Very nice!
  5. Well, I interwebbed and nope. I've seen those before and that's a pretty crap finish right there. Hiding something? http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/norlin-years/175580-post-your-best-clown-burst-pics.html
  6. What's a "Clown Burst"? All this chatter about it kind of makes me want it.
  7. 2nd run here too. Keeping it simple to the ultimate specs. Tobacco burst. Now to wait the 9 months or so. Like a whole other baby. Can't wait for the first "ultrasound" shots.
  8. Damn, Mike- you ARE talented- building high quality, boutique guitars AND cooking some kick ass stir fry in your wok... Ah, fok it...the teacher got me an F on spelling Mike, i LOVE WOKING as well, specially fried Dim Sums..so any time that you come to Quebec, let me know' Quebec! I'm in Kingston, ON. Not too far down the road. I'm in! If the ceiling has been lifted above those first 12. Which I really hope so. I'm shaking right now. Excitement for everyone involved, from those who have their quote to those who will enjoy the porn of the build process and the completed masterpieces and of course, especially for Mike. Hear hear!
  9. Amazing. These are going to be great. I trust this is the start of something beautiful. Im hoping for double cuts in the future as well. All the best success!
  10. I am hot for the Newport must move a couple of things first. If it's still there when all that happens, im in.
  11. Apologies. I appear to have fallen asleep. PMd!
  12. It is rare for people to know what Hamer is, outside of the imports. "You mean HaMMer?" No one in my age range knows the real thing. I became infatuated with them when a fellow guitarist in another high school band had a black special. Looked, sounded, played awesome. If I remember correctly, he was bitter it wasn't the Gibson he wanted, but still enjoyed it. That was also around the time No Doubt came along, and Tom Dumont rocked his wicked Standards. Everyone seems to like them when they play them, but when it's time to buy, its always Fender this, Gibson that, PRS the other thing. So much more guitar for the money, even at the list prices. Preaching to the choir here, I know, but its that brand recognition that lacked.
  13. Thank you! Some great suggestions. I'll need to do some research on them now. Keep em coming, if anyone has other suggestions. Cheers!
  14. I have 59s in both positions in my Studio. I do like it, but was looking for something different on this guitar.
  15. Hi! I have a Standard Mahogany with the stock JB and 59. Looking for suggestions for replacements. Mostly interested in swapping out the bridge jb. Have nickle covers I'd like to keep, are they transferable? I play mostly punk and harder rock with this guitar, not high gain though. Love a nice crunch with sustain on the drive side and a good thick, but crisp clean tone. Appreciate your input. Cheers!
  16. No, I am done. So sad to hear. I've been over on the other thread since. Apologies for missing that. Best of luck on the next chapter of your career. To everyone involved!
  17. Ugh. The worst. Sorry to hear about the losses of employment most importantly. Ovations and Guilds now in Fender plants? I'm well past the point of buying anything new from Gibson. Seems I'm there with Fender now (despite never having bought anything new from them....EDIT, oops. Bought a US Charvel about 5 years ago). Guess that new line of American made Guilds ($8000?) couldn't turn as much profit and volume as they erroneously hoped they would. The Guitar Center thing is interesting. Hopefully Gibson and Fender will start tailing off their production over a period to actually meet demand, as opposed to forcing the big boxes to carry way more inventory than they can sell. The current model is disastrous. Public companies are not in it for product quality or nostalgia. They hope the pleebs will continue to buy new product off nostalgia alone. It has worked for Gibson and Fender for a while now. The problem is how all this will reverberate to the smaller players involved. This GC matter could very well take those brands off the cliff with them, especially if the brands don't change that mentality. Much like the housing implosion and the unprecedented period of growth before it, living off credit continuously until all lines run out and the real serious challenges begin. By that time, the Bain Capitals, etc. have already profited billions and have hoofed it for another company to hollow out. That is what a "sell out" is.
  18. Are you continuing there with Ovation and Guild?
  19. Us made, quality parts/construction, under a grand? Larrivee RS-2 with soapbars. A great example of minimalist greatness. The cutaway is a little differently shaped, but I love it. Excellent bang for the buck. Bought one of the early models used for 600 (CAD).
  20. Looks great! Looking forward to further developments.
