The 25 Greatest Wah Solos of All Time
MCChris replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Or whether one should wah with the left or right foot. -
I didn't realistically think that "Rocky" by Thin Lizzy -- my favorite solo ever, wah or otherwise -- would make the list, but no TL solos at all? Fail. Still, some good ones on here. Although if there's wah on COP, it's the only thing that's subtle about that solo. http://www.guitarworld.com/pedal-metal-25-greatest-wah-solos-all-time

The two members who used the words "bad" and "worst" in reference to Road House should be banned on principle.

Saw them last Saturday in Chicago and they were fantastic. Jake is one bad mofo. Charvel strats into an EVH half stack, unmiced. So much for the "turn down and let the PA do the work" approach. Sounded fucking great. Whatever issues plagued the band a year ago are gone now.

Same here. Back in the day when I was trying to do music for real and thus was beyond broke, upgrading pickups was an inexpensive way to make a cheap guitar sound great. More recently, the Dragon IIs in my CE22 had to go, as did the "Atomic" pickups in a Fender Highway One Strat I used to have; both were vastly improved with Rios. Had I kept the SG I bought last year, the bridge pickup would have had to be replaced. But my most recent acquisitions were a pair of imports (Squier Trohman Tele, Reverend Jetstream HB) and I won't be making any changes to them as the stock pickups sound fine to my ears. I had thoughts of converting the Trohman into a poor man's Robin Texas Rawhide, but purchased new, that pickup complement would cost as much as I paid for the guitar (a little more, actually). I've never had an issue with the stock Duncans in Hamers; I changed the JB in my Mirage II to a Custom Custom simply because the CC is my favorite bridge pickup.

I'm man enough to admit that I'm not man enough to go there. Not at standard pitch, anyway.

This reminds me, I need to watch their Later With Jools Holland appearance.

Now that the jam band is back in action, the CE22 and Fackyo Superpro are tied for the top, because I bring both and use both:

After which they'll be jetting to Chicago for a small club show. $20 tix. I should go and get in Grohl's grill about how he's not doing enough to push rock music forward. http://chicagoist.com/2014/10/14/foo_fighters_to_play_cubby_bear_thi.php

"Top 10 bass players who handle lead vocals"
MCChris replied to Willie G. Moseley's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Stike will be cheesed that Eddie Spaghetti is not on the list, especially since he plays an LP bass. -
Perhaps Dave and/or I should deliver it. Lord knows I need an excuse to get back up there.
-
I'd bring the 7 I currently have. Not wanting for anything right now. Ask me again in 5 minutes.
-
Nope. The video guy had to split before I could get my hands on it. You're all welcome!
-
Nah, we committed the mopiest photo bomb in history.
-
Now THAT is cool!

This prick changes his birthday every month. Disregard.

Did I get scammed? Hamer, South Africa?
MCChris replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Dang. What kind of back room dealing went into this acquisition? -
Ask and thou shalt receive! Here's the entire jam with L Nutter and WBS#5 on it: Takes about 3 minutes to gel, then it's off to the races. At one point Nutter had every available boost/overdrive/distortion engaged. I'm sure Bil was smiling.
