It got swapped to another guitar that needed one quite some time ago (can't remember exactly which/when), I think the truss rod is still ok
-
to my knowledge: he never did ink stamping like that, serial always dent-stamped into the back of the neck hidden in the pocket, all his truss rod adjusters were early style at the heel / neck pocket, and I've never seen a 3 bolt or 70s headstock BB. If I could figure out how to add photos..., there's also a faintly stamped ARMENTA near the micro tilt route.

'89? kind of odd with the thin rosewood board, 'bullet' truss adjust at the head stock, - serial must have been on the neck plate, 3 bolt neck. Velorush suggested that the fretboard may not be original, I got this from Lynn Ellsworth about 25 years go, he may have replaced the fretboard I can't seem to load photos, I'll keep trying

I believe my late '80s desert yellow Jem had the same color hardware as this black '89 Jem, the DY had a busted tuner and I wasn't able to find a matching Cosmo Black tuner or set back then, - at least it should be easier to find a trem bar than a tuner set for an 89 Jem. I have a 2000 ish 'Cortek' Ibanez RG (the neck through mik RG) that also has the same color hardware, but it uses a different trem arm I think, - and was also missing the trem arm when I bought it.

How to tell a real Gibson from a fake
Jimbilly replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
and really really heavy to be authentic I just watched that the other night too, I though it was good. The truss adjust nut is probably the best clue, the fakers would really have to go to some effort to do a Gibson style truss rod nut. Whenever I see one at a pawn shop, I always start by assuming it's a fake -
whoever works at this pawn shop knows enough to have gotten quite a few details right, or they are very good at using google. This is an unusual finish for a Centaura? Sounds kind of beatup, - but they do often discount, depending on who you talk to. Physical location is Spokane WA, which is the far East side of the state, a bit too much of a drive for me to go see (5hrs+) https://shop.pawn1.com/Item/Details/HAMER-USA-CENTAURA-1990-IRIDESCENT-SWIRL/ef8174cd53934f14bc4a6a09427524a4

Rainsong guitars - any experience?
Jimbilly replied to hamerhead's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I flipped one too long ago to remember much other than 'this is really cool!'. Do I remember correctly that there's minimal to no bracing inside?, which should allow it to resonate 'bigger'? I suppose you might want to keep it out of long term UV to keep it from yellowing and possibly degrading, other than that, it should be really tough. - Given the abuse my bicycles have taken, a guitar should last pretty much forever! (do you plan to carry it on the roof of your car, leave it out in the shed? use it in the rain/mud, wash it with a hose, jump on it? etc). -
I got the '89 Jem back from the 'shop' yesterday, took the neck off to see the ink stamps, took the pickguard off to clean around under the edges and see the wiring, and de-oxit the pots. After stringing it up and after initial setup, while re-aligning the trem bar retainer spring: this little brass plate fell out from somewhere, the guitar setup just fine, but there's this mystery, what is this from/for?

Gary Hoey and some Hamer content.

among all the people he mentioned meeting, I can't believe he left out meeting me in the early 2000's!! I had brought a stack of his cd's for him to sign, probably 4 or 5, he was : "oh wow, thanks!, oh wow! thanks!!..." etc -seemed super cool- 1 reply

this is on layaway, I can pick it up next time I'm up that way. They sweetened the deal enough to make me wait (the store employees get some sort of bonus if they get enough layaways at the end of each month, so it's common to get a better discount if bought on layaway). '89, mostly just dirty and neglected, the funny thing is that it's much easier to assume it's a real one if it's dirty enough, and I think all the fakes have the serial on the back of the headstock instead of the neck plate like the earlier ones. I had a desert yellow one a while back, and or course I should have kept it, this eases my pain quite a bit

that would be worth a try imo
-
hilarious! because RE appraisal is my 'day job' too. yes, if your dealer can get a premium price and help with the difficult elements, that might be worth it, probably worth a try and see how it goes.

I only sell locally, the oddball stuff is hard to sell, even in a pretty well populated area, some stuff I think you have to be willing to ship. A Strat or Tele in the under $1k price range should sell locally in any sort of populated area if priced competitively, the 'mexi strat' or tele would be probably the most marketable guitars in existence. I chat with a friend regularly who sells a TON of gear online about pricing, we have kind of agreed on the simple principle that if yours is the cheapest one available based on what you're seeing listed online, even by just a little bit, eventually it will sell. I've got a couple I'm probably going to have to sell online, they are too 'nichey' to sell locally. I wonder what percentage your local dealer would take? I have considered similar, and always concluded that it would be less legwork to discount 'that much' and sell it myself locally on FB marketplace. I'm told that if you get practiced at it, packing/shipping is not that bad, make up a cool seller name ("MrJam guitars"?) on Reverb and jump in? You can get boxes etc delivered to you from Amazon, no more GC dumpster diving.

I've got a Kramer Pacer too, apparently SS played one of those quite a bit early on. - I have a regular Centaura (part of the SS evolution I understand), I just need a dual hum Centaura to complete the collection and timeline! I brought the SS2 to play at a memorial the other day (I played it quite a bit in the band with the person who was being memorialized), two of the guys wanted to buy it from me. Even though it is a bit relic'd, it is finally getting some of the love it deserves. I'm really not a SS 'superfan' (although I can listen to Rebel Yell endlessly), these just kind of found their way to me.

those are decent, but very plain, I've flipped a couple of those, they seem to go for about that. I always look at the Peaveys when pawn shopping, they can be a bargain, the shops can have trouble pricing those. I've still never seen one of those nice Cirrus basses at a pawn shop, those must be a bit rare. My Ltd St is my only 'keeper' Peavey so far. I see quite a few of the Wolfgang imports around, just yesterday I saw a really pretty import Wolfgang standard priced as a usa, - I'm searching for the usa priced as an import.

just to be overly clear to avoid any confusion: the one in the middle fits in the Les Paul or studio or special cases

T-51 Tele $4.5K - why?
Jimbilly replied to DarkHammer's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
wishful thinking would be my guess, priced like the other boo teek brands -
I just checked: my 87 SS1 custom fits perfectly in: early 80s Special case, late 2000s Studio custom case, and regular Gibson Les Paul case. The SS2 and SS0 (proto) do not fit in these cases, which is why mine are forced to live in soft cases.
