I'd guess it's far more expensive to have fixed than you would want to pay. Open it up and look for cold solders, then go to goodwill and look at CD players. I don't think the pawn shops around here carry CD players anymore, but they do carry blu-ray players, which are reportedly 'backwards compatible' in most cases.

it cleaned up very nicely, just a little truss rod adjust and fret polish, had to raise the bar just a hair for a single contact on the tom (tonepros). pups are SDSH1's (59s). Oddly enough, the truss rod wrench in the proper case was not quite the right size, just a hair small, but looks like a standard Hamer truss wrench, one of my other wrenches fit perfectly. 8 pounds exactly. I played it at rehearsal last night, I neurotically checked my strap locks continually. Way way nicer guitar than I need or deserve. Photo is not enhanced, - judge the top for yourself! I wonder how close to 'the end' of production this one is? Aztec Gold?

I had a black one, I think it was black sparkle, I'm sure it was well under $400 from a pawn shop, probably 20 years ago. I can't remember selling it, - maybe it's in my basement somewhere! I remember seeing another one fs around that time I think, but I already had one. Both were the two boomers model. I've only seen about 6 or 7 total Cali's in person, they were rare even when dealers carried them, only two fs new that I recall from the shops. The 'one that got away': a local shop had a leopard print graphic cali with boomers for 1500+ ish, I remember seeing that one, but that was way out of my price range possibilities at that time.

I’m having a quintuple heart bypass tomorrow

what time of day for the event? - for the prayers during -
I'll have to go pick it up tomorrow, I didn't have enough cash on me today, so it went on layaway, more pics soon

stumbled upon this a couple of hours ago, I think it's a '08 (6 digits, starts with 8), - I've never owned a Hamer newer than the late 90s until now. Pretty much mint other than looking like it has sat untouched for a long time, needs a fret polish pretty badly. Of course I couldn't resist, it wasn't stupid cheap, but attractively priced. I didn't have enough cash on me, so it's on layaway, and I can pick it up tomorrow

good customer service follow up is always good to hear about. Coincidentally, I just got an Ibanez with their locking trem, put EB Regular Slinky's on it, have had a heck of a time getting the tuning to stabilize, it seems there was a lot of 'stretch' in the strings. I've never that that issue with D'addario, I have a handful of 'Floyd guitars and others with floating trems, I think I have D'addario on all of those. I wondered if somehow I got some fake EBs?, but it seems these are legit. I will be hesitant to put the EBs on anything with a floating bridge.

I've got a birthday coming up, - don't waste your birthday and ask your wife for some music/guitar stuff rather than risk getting something weird. I'll be using them live as monitors, wired from an Allen&Heath personal monintor/mixer for bass guitar or electric guitar. I'm currently using some really cheap in-ears, they do the job (pitch and timing), but I'd probably enjoy some nicer ones. I'm looking on Amazon and reading reviews, there's a whole lot that get good reviews, prices all over the place, I'm currently leaning towards the Linsoul Kiwi ears Cadenza ii. Really good reviews and $45 other suggestions? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GD5XQ96R/ref=twister_B0GD55WYZP?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

i have an old Korg exp-2, plastic (with metal bottom plate), not as robust but smaller and lighter, - I just now dropped it and it's ok! Coincidentally, I remember that Kull used the same one. It seems pretty 'transparent', and I actually have quite a bit of respect for Korg stuff. Looks like they still make it, and it gets good reviews

yup!, like other activities, it's fun until it's not, then move on

because it's so much fun! It's like the spice rack in the kitchen, why do you need more than one spice in the cupboard?, can't you just pick the one you like and just use that?

I swear I posted about them here a couple of years ago... Their Boston and Def Leppard content is really good, the bassist on Hysteria uses the real Hamer bass. skip to about 1:50

for low wattage or if you're not playing super loud, the old readily available lightweight alnico speakers often sound really good (to me anyway), I just weighed an old cts 12, a spare for one of the U45Bs: 3lb 2.6oz.

I can do 'one trip' load-in from the car for bass on Sunday mornings, which surprises me sometime: DI to the house from a tech21 bass fly rig (still super happy with that), Roland bass cube 30 on my little 3pc wooden stand pointed at me, - the bass-cube is a surprisingly good sounding amp. I have a bigger bass cab, which is rarely needed but it fun sometimes: GK 212 Neo ii, I would have a really hard time buying a multi speaker bass cab that didn't have Neodymium magnet speakers. Pretty recently I found a nice Eden 210xlt for next to nothing, long ago I wanted one of those when I had the 410xlt, my 212 GK sounds much better/bigger than the 210 and is quite a bit lighter (a small variety of bass heads/preamps to choose from). I'm a big fan of the gk 212 neo. For guitar I'm usually 2 or 3 trips, it just takes a lot more stuff, but with a fly rig, a small amp (univox u45b would be a common choice) and a headless backup guitar I can do one kind of wobbly trip.

Hamer Blitz Zulu Bass
Jimbilly replied to pablo's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
basses get a whole lot less love than 6 strings, I'd expect that one to sell for less than that, but I'm often wrong. I have a Gibson 'designer series' sort of similar to that graphic, let's see what it weighs... 9lb 6 or 7 oz, - also not terrible. -
if it's closed back and small, or has a rear panel that would help with support, - I've been using this, - and found it fits in the pocket of a gig bag or under my pedalboard in the case. plywood would be better for the connector piece, I dropped the connector shown and one of the 'tabs' broke off, and now with a glued on patch it's a little thicker than ideal. I did 45deg for this 'prototype', and it's been working great

that shop is not far from me, I've never visited. Apparently they get some Hamers, and all priced for other people than me -
Maybe you can solve this long running mystery for me (sorry for the thread hijack) : Why don't keyboards have dual/stereo xlr outs?

I don't know why the Iridium doesn't have an xlr out, I've wondered if the 1/4" out is balanced?, it's a pretty well kept secret if it is. I had a Nu-x Amp Academy for a few months, even that was a bit more complicated than I wanted, - but it was pretty neat, relatively cheap too.

someone should be building these, my amp builder friend put this together for me out of a '50s Magnotone chassis that had been previously re-wired and had an inappropriate transformer. I wanted a low wattage simple head: this is a "modded bassman" preamp, and a champ type single octal power section (going for a Marshall / Champ type thing). He built it so that I can use 6V6s or any 6L6, I've got a bunch of old 6L6GAs Bs etc that are unmatched and not robust enough for a more modern amp, so now I have an amp I can use those ancient tubes in, and it sounds great. My dad built the mahogany box for it, he's not really a 'craftsman' but it was a fun project for a then 88 year old. I drilled holes in the bottom board for easier removal of longer tubes, the keep the box shorter and keep it from being too top-heavy.
