  1. just to be overly clear to avoid any confusion: the one in the middle fits in the Les Paul or studio or special cases
  2. wishful thinking would be my guess, priced like the other boo teek brands
  3. I just checked: my 87 SS1 custom fits perfectly in: early 80s Special case, late 2000s Studio custom case, and regular Gibson Les Paul case. The SS2 and SS0 (proto) do not fit in these cases, which is why mine are forced to live in soft cases.
  4. probably priced by the pound I had an orange ish one that was way too heavy
  5. -edited 4/19: now $1199! not such a good deal anymore no affiliation, these are #1 on my list of under valued guitars this one is supposed to have 'minimal wear', but just comes with a gig bag https://reverb.com/item/92939952-peavey-limited-ltd-st-2000-s-amber-flametop?utm_campaign=US-Shop_unpaid&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google
  6. he didn't say "gristle"!, - but always quotable such as in this video: "musicians are basically witch doctors" Greg is awesome, I got to see/meet him quite a few years ago when smallish music stores used to bring artists around for 'clinics', he seems like a genuinely good and fun guy.
  7. I'm guessing if so, they couldn't agree on a band name
  8. I wonder if Uli Jon and David Lee have ever considered forming a band?
  9. weird reflected lines in the previous photo, photos too big to attach both in the above, here's a better pic. Awesome guitar playing/sounding guitar, built around '03 for Namm
  10. I'll break the 'Hamer' rule: custom shop John Douglas Peavey, I felt it was the appropriate guitar for the occasion
  11. those would be tough to replace!, I'd keep them given the difficulty/cost of replacement, and the likelyhood of someday wishing you hadn't sold. Do you need the cash? - don't sell and then buy something that depreciates rapidly: always use different funding for a new purchase if it's for something that will depreciate, I know a guy who sold his real Bassman to buy a hot tub, the hot tub is worth zero now, and I'm sure he sometimes thinks of the Bassman he could have kept. 8-9 years ago I sold some gear to finance a mtn bike for racing, -terrible investment!, it was mostly not very special gear, but I think the '89 Jem $$ may have gone into that fund.
  12. I did that on an Ibanez bass tuner (the only crappy tuner Gotoh made), it was almost magical: I heated it with a cigarette lighter iirc, placed my biggest magnet on it and the cap popped right out to the magnet, I think I just used a guitar amp speaker for the magnet
  13. Ooh! yes! the button with the Hamer logo should pop right into the Schaller. Have you watched any of the youtube vids about removing that button using a bit of heat and a magnet?
  14. not 2-3x what it could be resold for, - that Diablo would be really hard to resell. There's a lot of good deals from private sellers mixed in with what's overpriced on Craigslist or FB marketplace. Do the legwork at pawn shops and great deals come up regularly (ask me how I know...). Cheap/ low cost import stuff can be quite playable (Harley Benton, Eart, Firefly, I'm sure there are other brands), and having a low value guitar to haul around has some benefits. My two picks for best value right now are: Peavey usa LTD ST, you can still get those for $1k or less in great condition and all original, beautiful and fantastic guitars. Ibanez Premium (AZ series and a signature model are what I have), very well spec'd with DiMarzios and Gotoh hardware, those won't hold their value like the Peavey mentioned above, but really really nice guitars. Honorable mentions include: upper end LTD and Schecter, Edwards, very recent Epi LPs. I've had/have examples of each of those, they can be low cost to purchase, and often have real DiMarzio, Duncan or Fishman pickups, and good hardware.
  15. I've got a black one courtesy of Pesocaster, I like it. I understand that the tube is more of a 'buffer' (?) than an actual preamp for the breakup. I think the Maxon made an indentical unit, or did they build the Tube King? - the Maxon ROD-880
  16. yup, I feel better about my impulse purchase now
  17. that looks great! Sort of a 'super champ' type thing: single octal, but 6L6 instead of 6V6 I wonder if those would take the older 6L6GA or GB tubes? those can be very low cost for vintage tubes. Blackstar (and Vox) is supposedly owned by Korg, which is not a bad thing.
  18. shipping in the US is $21, I offered $30, accepted and one is on the way. $57 ish after tax
  19. a pro key player I used to know told a story of seeing a cover band in Russia I think, 20-30 years ago doing that song like this: "what's love?, but sex and hands and motions".
  20. a lot of horses out of that barn
  21. I should mention I had an early 'clamshell' style Discman, I think I wore that one out, and replaced it with a similar model from a yard sale, it's in my mic case and still works, a very handy size for a portable PA rig (I also have an original walkman cassette player I can see from here, I think I bought it in '82 or 83, it still works but sounds terrible). I do recall actually noticing the sound quality of the Discman was not quite as good as my old Denon home unit, but plenty good for PA system type use, yours is likely a newer model than the one I have.
  22. yes, the Linsoul Kiwi ears Cadenza ii. I bet the cheaper $25-30 Linsouls are good too, and fit is very important of course. - And take my review as from someone who hasn't tried a whole bunch of IEMs. Agreed about the tinnitus, it's so easy to run headphones/iems louder than necessary: I practice nearly every day through headphones, and I've gotten in the habit of having them as quiet as possible. It sure sounds good a little bit loud, but I don't remember this low level ear ringing a few years ago. Some expert or other on youtube was talking about how in ears can be worse for tinnitus because they are jammed right in your ears and sealed up.
