If you want versatility, get a Peso-pro like above (monaco superpro, HSH). Freakin' amazing guitar, I've never played anything like it.

As far as the British stuff goes; I have a pair of the powered Wharfedale mains (similar to the powered mackies), I've been loving them since I bought them well over a year ago.

I especially like those jet-boat paintjobs!

It says made in usa on the (non painted) headstock, ser # E 333xxx what's up w/ that bridge?, it doesn't go through the back. It plays and sounds cool btw. I'm guessing there's a couple of strat experts hanging around here...

I've seen it at home dopot I think.

I love that color too, I like it better than the common trans red (25ths).

It's the same old dilemma; cheap can be good enough, but buying a good piece of gear for some real $$ is usually not regrettable. I did have a bad experience with their acoustic active di box, a kid I know has one and through the PA it was more like a distortion box. I'd leave those for the kids. Since you care about your tone buy better quality stuff, even if it's used. Or be really patient, watch craigslist and do a lot of pawn shopping, and pay those prices for good used gear.

All the USA models are great guitars. I assume the imports are decent.

some Marshall jcm 800s are cheap?
Jimbilly replied to Jimbilly's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Well, I've got too many amps in my basement, so I'm gonna pass. If any of you want it, it's at www.music6000.com It won't show up on their used listings as it's rarely updated, I believe they ship, and they're closed on Sunday, so give them a call on Monday AM (pacific time). That's a really good store, so there shouldn't be any problems dealing with them. -

It was a small cabinet, but I'm certain it had tubes, and the jcm800 logo on front lower left. I should have looked at the specific model#. -
I was just at one of the good music stores in my area (not GC of course), they have a jcm800 1x12 combo for $399. It's very well used, rust on the outer metal peices, and has a replacement speaker, it also appears to be a channel switching model. That seems like a good price, is there something wrong with those?

I'm trying hard to get a few details done. I'm an independent RE appraiser, and it's typically pretty slow this time of year around the big holidays. I plan on doing a lot of year end collections next week, -with lots of hfc breaks. I work out of my basement, and I can hear my toddler upstairs, so there's lots of break 'opportunities' for me!

You guys are all wrong!!! Say it with me: DEE LUXXX! Yeah, probably salesman hype. They are active, and that stacked knob is bass and treble. I think they're good pickups, but not great, I'd rather have Bartolinis. I like the way the emg's in my Chap4 sound a lot better, oddly enough.

Yeah, the EMG's are stock. I think they were just a bit unusual, but not unheard of. I was told by my dealer that it was a Cruise Deluxe, and even though no-one else has ever heard of that designation, I'm sticking by it!

Cruise basses are cool! here's mine below. I intend to try 'blocking' my 2tek someday just to see what happens. You should be able to place a tight fitting piece of wood behind the 2tek and get more of a conventional bridge sound out of it. As I imagine it, I could loosen the 2tek mounting screws and if the shim is the right size, tightening the screws would jam the shim in place. I really intend to do that to my 2tek equipped guitar, -it sounds a bit metallic.

Guitar Center having another sale.
Jimbilly replied to Submariner85's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I do have one actual regret: About 7 or 8 years ago they were blowing out their Alembic basses, they had the most beautiful Elan (?) 5 string, list was supposedly $4500, on sale for $1199. After that one dissapeared, I think it showed up on bassnw.com for about $2300 used. -

They have so many sales, it's all BS. About 2 years ago I heard an ad on the radio, "up to 80% off used gear, all used gear on sale!!!!! blah blah blah!!!!" I went in, and nobody in the store knew anything about it. I happened to be going near another GC, so I went in there too, nobody knew anything about a used gear sale. -
That's the stock EMG BTC (bass-treble control) knob. I bought that bass new, and I was told it was a 'deluxe', maybe they just called it that because it had the EMG's. List was about $2300 (per the store tag), -no kidding, and it had been 'on sale' (street priced) for $1699 for a long time before I bought it. Mine is quite a bit lighter than the few others I've played. I called Bassnw and they got me a white pickguard for just under $50 shipped, but that was a few years ago now.

You have my sincere condolensces, and prayers on the way.
