  1. a couple suddenly popping up for 'decent' pricing, what gives?! https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Hamer/Used-Hamer-Centaura-USA-2-Color-Sunburst-Solid-Body-Electric-Guitar.gc?cntry=us&source=4WWRWXGP&utm_medium=paid-search&utm_channel=paid-search&utm_source=google&utm_platform=google&utm_campaign=GC_G_NTM_PLA-PMX_Guitars_Electric_U&utm_ct=pla&utm_tactic=prospecting&utm_segment=guitar&utm_term=&utm_content=120614406&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2oW-BhC2ARIsADSIAWoyxc5Hsux34kLwMLJqwWKMV8xeiKfS_5wOvnGobNNBQE4PV6PVW5YaAlIsEALw_wcB
  2. this one I think, so cool that they got these stories recorded, skip to 7:15 if you've got somewhere to be
  3. I got to meet Simon Phillips for a moment at Jazz Alley in Seattle about a year ago, his website says they are coming back in June, he seemed really cool, very nice. There's some video on youtube of him doing some great stuff to a Pete Townsend or Who song. not this one, but this is good too
  4. The original case that came new with my '97 Cruise V does not have the small "usa" next to Hamer on the case, I imagine Hamer started ordering cases from TKL that would could be paired with either imports or usa sometime in the mid '90s.
  5. There is a cartoon out there somewhere that was published 20-30 years ago, it had the band on stage with a banner reading "final farewell reunion tour" and a guy in the audience saying "I like them better when Mr Townsend smashed his guitar instead of his walker"
  6. Nearest I got at that time was a very cute girl giving me this B&W for some reason, that would have been '83-85. It's probably a copy of a famous photo, but maybe a little too blurry for that. Saw them in Seattle about 10 years ago, nosebleed seats, it was fun, other than getting stuck in the parking garage for well over an hour trying to leave. Pete has such an unusual and unique solo style, really fun to hear someone so different. I also remember thinking that Roger's scream on We Don't Get Fooled again sounded way too good, probably 'canned' was my thought.
  7. The night Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher stormed out of a Spinal Tap gig in New York after discovering that the English hard rock legends weren't actually a real band This story was subsequently related to Harry Shearer aka Derek Smalls, who was most amused. "It's fair enough," he responded. "I was under the impression for some time that Oasis was a real band." full story: https://www.loudersound.com/features/oasis-liam-gallagher-spinal-tap-in-new-york
  8. my friend just sold one on Rvb for $500, it sold really quickly, I think he said there was another one for $700 that hadn't sold, this was just a week or two ago.
  9. when you let your mischievous teenage daughter help decorate for Christmas
  10. I met one of my current good friends in 7th grade, he was very funny and mischievous. When I met him he had recently discovered that some of the tapes for the cassette players in the school library had a really long lead time, and if you unplugged the headphones, turned one up really loud and pressed 'play', you could be LONG gone before the music/story came on at a high volume. He did that a bunch of times, and never got caught, the librarian was overheard one time saying "one day I'm going to catch who ever is doing this...". It still cracks me up
  11. Or "I shopped online for guitars today"
  12. the closest I got to getting into that sort of this was Gary Hoey's 'Desire' (his version of Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring). And to tie in some Hamer content... Yesterday I played my friend Matt's salmon blush Studio Custom that Gary played/demo'd at some Namm show way back when.
  13. I wonder what this guy sounds like
  14. Yup, they simply built too many and they aren't selling as fast as they had hoped
  15. I've experienced 'too loud' more often than not, but I think my ears are on the sensitive end of the spectrum, my friends seem ok with what actually has been painful for me even with earplugs, - that was at Big Wreck last winter, it was bearable when I went to the back of the room. I'm sure there is a range of what level volume becomes uncomfortable among different people, and I always suspect that the sound guy has partially wrecked hearing from too many loud shows.
  16. the one on my BTB1205 is pretty similar, a bit older probably
  17. shopping on GC used, -something doesn't look quite right on this bass bridge, up close it really doesn't look right. Beautiful bass, but does no one at GC know or care?
  18. One of my pet peeves: the confusion about what "3/4" means in the guitar world. I was visiting an older cousin yesterday, he had an old Gibson acoustic out, a B25 iirc. He explained and sort of apologized that it was (just) "3/4 size", I questioned him about the size vs scale (he had no idea), it looked like a pretty normal 00 or something size to me, his wife found me a tape measure: 24.75" scale on that one. I tried to explain Strat vs LP scale, but the wine bottle was too low by then, I'll try to explain it to him again later.
  19. from a recent, and real nwmls real estate listing
  20. I hear "prepared ahead of time" or similar and it irks me.
