  1. With that silver trim, it's a '68 isn't it? It looks clean too. That should sound really good for bass too. Those aren't going down in price any time soon, so hanging onto it wouldn't hurt you a bit. .
  2. Is the Bootsy CD really good? I generally dig Bootsy. RAS Records 'A Reggae Christmas' (1988) is still one of my all time faves.
  3. That's too cool! Congratulations!
  4. Me too, my higher powered amps sit, and I reach for the 2 el84 Hilgen or the '70s Champ.
  5. A Fender Blues Jr. would be a good choice, those are pretty darn loud, upgrade the speaker to a V30 and that's a great little amp.
  6. Does this look right for a stock '87ish MIJ strat? The solders look original (except where I had to reattach 2 grounds), but it could be an entire guard from something else.
  7. What Ceeb said, they occasionally have a used Hamer for cheap, but IMO your time is better spent at pawn shops.
  8. I saw a dayglo yellow Chap, bolt-on, boomers, sustainiac about 8 years ago, fs for quite a while NOS for $600ish. They ended up selling it for $400 (about 6 years ago or so), -which is what I would have happily paid. It was NOS from Monte Vista guitar in S Tacoma after they went out of bus., and while it was NOS it had a huge amount of finish checking. So, that one's out there somewhere too.
  9. Have a fun B-day!
  10. wow, prayers sent, my condolensces.
  11. That's pretty stunning, wow!
  12. I bought my wife a Pentax m10 dig camera a short time ago, I NEED one for myself, kick-a$$ camera for $160. I need to update all my guitar photos now, like this one:
  13. A late entry of my SS1
  14. great! welcome home!
  15. You are starting to become a real Pain!!!! -ha-ha! Wow!, another great score! good (continued) luck!
  16. I've been using Griots Garage speed shine for a while now, I'll bet it's the same stuff as that quick detailer. Use it with a bar of paint cleaning clay on your guitar, that'll get it looking good. http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?L1..._1001&SKU=11146
  17. My friend (same guy w/ the holoflake PRS) had a Salmon blush quilt-top Studio Custom, built for namm and played there by Gary Hoey. I coulda had it for $800 about 10 years ago, stupid-stupid-stupid... I think he feels worse for selling it than I do for not buying it from him.
  18. Peso; if you get a Road King to go with the Pesopro, you're gonna play a chord through it, and then just roll over and die of tone overload.
  19. Wow, how did you find it? I had a short in a used VanZandt single coil that was similar (in that Boogie Bodies HEAVY strat you played), -but easier to find and fix with just 2 wires.
  20. have you hooked it up to your multimeter, and then pulled/bent the wires around to check for shorts?
  21. Ya know, Jol designed the Chap 5's w/ a reverse headstock, not to change the tension of the string, but to increase the elasticity and vibrating mass, that's a fact. Kind of similar to what you're experiencing?
  22. If you want versatility, get a Peso-pro like above (monaco superpro, HSH). Freakin' amazing guitar, I've never played anything like it.
  23. As far as the British stuff goes; I have a pair of the powered Wharfedale mains (similar to the powered mackies), I've been loving them since I bought them well over a year ago.
  24. If Iv'e got more than you, does that mean I shouldn't buy any of yours?
  25. I especially like those jet-boat paintjobs!
