The checkerboard pattern distracts you from seeing that at first glance. I don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it or had I not seen the before pic.

It's 2025. Where have you been?

That's awesome! Hey. Are those Dunlop... Never mind.

Butchered Hamer Monaco III

"Butchered" doesn't send buyers reaching for their credit cards. -
Brand new in the unopened package (that's the actual one pictured below). I don't think they make this one any longer. Lifted ad copy: "A tone diamond in the rough, the TonePros vintage Aluminum Wraparound gives everything a true tone connoisseur would ever want. With the TonePros “Invisi-fulcrum”, this wraparound has a true fulcrum point that is literally invisible to the eye, but intonates vintage style wraparound guitars like never before. And with aluminum, the correct vintage material that wraparounds were made of in the 50s, this wraparound gives the brightest tone available to tune-o-matic guitars. A must have for the vintage tone enthusiast who wants as much beautiful tone as he can possibly get, while still keeping his guitar in tune. Model Number: VTNA-N Thread: 5/16 – 24 US Thread Stud to Stud Spacing: 3.22 inches/ 82mm Bridge Material: Light Weight (Featherweight) High-Grade Vintage Spec Aluminum Saddle Notch: None Stud Material: Brass Radius: 10.5 inch" Wrap it up with this aluminum wrap tailpiece! (I wrote that). $65 shipped.

Okay, Gents — thoughts on Daytonas?

Funny. My third favorite Strat over the years was a Daytona. SFG with a rosewood board. As you said, a Daytona is not a Strat, but it certainly played the part, albeit in a more modern way. My second favorite was a Melancon. Just a beautiful stick of butter with an outrageous top. But my favorite Strat was a Strat. 1959 vintage. All original, aside from the paint. This was my Holy Grail. I made the same mistake not once, not twice, but three times. I sold them all.- 15 replies

Or when you fix that ghastly headstock. -

Not an easy task. But please... get the logo after you address that awful headstock "repair." -
I'm actually a little concerned for cancer.

Just spoke with the man as he was preparing for his trip to the hospital. He's certainly not looking forward to the tests and procedures that are waiting for him, but he is surprisingly upbeat. "I'm not fucking dying," he proclaimed, I must say, rather convincingly. I don't know anything about cancer, other than it sucks. I think we all know that part. But what I do know is that no one ever beat it without a positive attitude, so he's on the right path I think. Your posts, phone calls, emails, etc. have really lifted his spirits. That's not me saying it. This is what he told me. Please know that he appreciates it.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with @Mobster, who had just been chatting with Rechts via Facebook Messenger and passed this info to me, so I'm passing it onto you all. It seems that Jay is sans phone since his last visit to the hospital and they lost it for him. I joked that in the countless number of Jay Toland disappearances over the years, we finally have one that can be explained. Jay is headed to the hospital tomorrow for treatment and is suddenly using language related to "beating this," which is music to his friends' ears. Certainly more so than his guitar playing. I KEEED! I've never heard him play! He has been living in a hotel in Boca and since he doesn't have a phone, all of his communication has been via fb messenger or the hotel room phone. So he's going to spend his birthday in the hospital. "Juneteenth," he said. "A National holiday," for which he is taking full credit. Please know that he can read these posts, so wish the original motherfucker a happy birthday tomorrow. I mean come on. He got you the day off.

Way back when, during the Photoshop Wars, only a select few people knew what Rechts looked like, and obviously it would be real help for me if I had had a face to place into all sorts of compromising photos. Mobster told me at some point that Rechts was going to be hanging at his place and I begged him to get a photo of his face for me. He laughed and said he would try, "But you know how he is..." he added. Mobster and ToneJunkee posted photos of their gettogether, but no Rechts... What happened? Where was Rechts? I was literally holding my breath. Then they posted this. Classic HFC fun. Extra points for the "LIVIN' LA VIDA ASSHOLA" t-shirt. Months later there was the follow up photo.
