  1. That is a pretty cool looking one. Almost looks Art Deco with the black/white scheme and pickguard.
  2. Hey...are any of the factory guys tooled up in a home workshop to do mods and repairs? Just wondering, in case they need work to tide them over.
  3. Congrats! Fitting the last one is a Standard.
  4. BTW.....what is the last official Hamer to be churned out...and what is the last official SN# ? You guys should get together one night and just bang out something totally bizarre and stamp it SN#666666 with a gold headstock plaque that says "The Last Hamer" and let HFC raffle it off with the funds to go to some charity of the Hamer staff's choice. ....maybe a copy of SN#0000 to take it full circle.
  5. What Chris said..... Plus, a perfect example of another factor happened to me yesterday. I had a guy who was around 30 y.o. Come by yesterday to look at am apartment I have for rent on Long Island/metro NYC area. Relatively intelligent, full-time musician and guitar instructor with a couple hundred students. We talked a little about guitars and he asked what I play. When I mentioned "Hamer," a huge question mark went off over his head and he said, " Hamer? .....Never heard of that." THAT was a big nail in the Hamer coffin IMO. After the Hamer heyday of the 80s and early 90s, they lost their identity. They went from virtually every big band having at least one Hamer onstage to the next generation barely knowing the brand....and by the second generation of current years, no one knew the brand. A rather stunning loss of market share over 15 years. The other end of that was also, of the younger players who HAD heard of Hamer, most thought it was some cheap, import brand. IMO...Paul Reed Smith picked up where Hamer dropped the ball and out-Hamered Hamer since that time. They are currently where Hamer should be in market share, had the brand been continued to be marketed right.
  6. "Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright; The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light, And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout; But there is no joy in Mudville — mighty Casey has struck out."
  7. A sad day in U.S. guitar history.
  8. "Sad" would be a great understatement, as I am sure we all hoped against hope for word of Hamer being OK'd to start taking new orders. I wish all you talented and loyal Hamer staff the best. It is certainly not the only pitiful thing FMIC has done over the years and only one of many brands it has destroyed. "Stupid is as stupid does."
  9. I don't know. I watched this video and was hungry again a half hour later.
  10. I don't know.....we always hired drummers who owned the P.A. and a big truck to move all the gear. Rest of the band always just had to have talent to get hired
  11. I love early Scorpion with Ulithi Roth but it really hard to find live video clips. Most have live audio with stills. Here is one of the only ones...would have preferred "Dark Lady" or something from Tokyo Tapes. Scorpions w/ Ulithi Roth 1974 An 80s hair band fave clip.... 12. Another Standard Bass.........sans inlays. http://s1359.photobucket.com/user/mc2NYNO/media/ad7a73165d5d31fdb6f4a8df2720aaf1_zps14797d43.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2
  13. Sorry to hear about the theft, Ted. My local precinct police on LI sound about the same as your's. No one cares and just pushes paper. Sadly, mine are the highest pais cops in the country and still do very little. I have three drug dealer houses on my block for years and nothing gets done about it. Laughably, my place in New Orleans is actually safer! despite being a murder capital. I woke up to being burglered a few years back at 2 a.m. The guy was two foot away from me going through spare change on my dresser and it woke me up. It was a local crackhead whose brother I know. The thief had my valuables piled up on the floor behind him when I woke up. By some miracle, I was able to talk him out of my house once he realized he was caught? I locked the door and since got a carry permit and a 9mm. It is sad how lazy police have become. My dad was a retired NYC cop and my brother is a Fed, so I do respect law enforcement. But nowadays police seem to throw it back on the victims. RECOMMENDATION.... 1). Change your door locks to double-key type to make it harder for thieves to leave your house with big stuff once they get in. If they cannot quickly get out the doors, they will likely just grab small stuff and climb back out a window. Also, use real iron security storm doors on the exterior of you house in front of your wooden entry doors with wooden frames (easy to kick in.). You can usually find used iron security doors on Craigs List or at a Habitat For Humanity Recycle Store. Make sure you also do any entry door you might have inside your garage!! Put interior locks on your vinyl/slider windows and patio doors. Metal interior security bars on first floor lower halves on double-hung windows. Security metal cages over window air conditioners that can easily be pushed in. ......if you do not have any friends who have been to jail....ask around. Everyone has a relative or friend who has been to prison. Best to use a guy who does breaking and entering to look over your house and tell you the weak points on how HE would get in!! You would be surprised what they will spot. After I though I bullet proofed my New Orleans place....local prison guy laughed and pointed out THIRD FLOOR wooden louver attic vent. Accessible from second floor porch roof...easy to kick in, enter attic, go down into main house...I immediately put up interior iron window bars. Also...make sure you lock up any ladders you may have in your yard, chain them to a fence so a thief cannot use them to access your upper windows. 2) Contact the media and give them the story, to try and turn up the heat. The police don't like stories that make them sound incompetent. If the detective on your case is slacking off, his boss is not going to be happy reading about it. A reporter may also contact authorities or other media out in the area where your stolen computer is to follow up. That may get something moving out there. 3) I bought a couple of those camouflage remote cameras that hunters use that take time lapse pics or that movement will trigger. They save data to a computer card. When I am out of town! I set one at a central location inside my house and one outside. Crooks usually look for the typical home security cameras but not these, plus you can easily change locations. At least it gives you an idea what went on while you were gone. IMO.....not too many things lower than stealing musical instruments or other tools an artist creates with. That ranks up there with robbing disabled folks or churches. A special spot in hell for people like that.
  14. Add four legs and a huge Hamer logo in the center and you'd sell 200+ Hamer mancave coffee tables real quick. Route for the soundhole and throw an ashtray in it......or use it as a beer holder.
  15. Not if they reuse Bill Schultz's or Leo's coffin.
  16. May I suggest a simple NAMM display for Hamer that Fender might consider for its booth? How about a real coffin, lid open, with a killer Hamer in it (actually Neilsen's "Uncle Dick" would be perfect for this)....with a set of vampire fangs on the headstock, with a sign that simply says "Undead." A play on all the vampire craze. ......and Fender does a lottery promotion of "anything goes" Hamer Custom Order tickets to be won over 2014 (ONE build per month.) People can buy lottery tickets for some $$ amount and Fender can donate the proceeds to some cause, as it picks the winners who can place a custom build order. Cool promo...and it would keep the Hamer brand alive in a minimal way and keep a buzz going. I think it could be a cool way to gauge market demand and keep the brand alive, yet on a back burner in a cool way. Maybe even number them "Undead 1 thru 12."
  17. Hey....what make is that black 335-ish axe with the fleur di lis logo that Robin is playing?
  18. I think that's the same bass. I almost jumped on it since it was green and 15 min from me but the knot bugged me. Hard to find color for a B12S. The logo is in the same position and Tom tends to play axes live a lot right after he buys them. Seeing as this one just sold on EBAY, I'd lean toward it being the same bass and Tom changed the PUPs. He did the same with the non-reverse korina 8 TBird he got from me....changed the pickguard color and used it on tour immediately.
  19. I just came back from a friend's house, a guy who has done evictions for me for years. His two daughters both work at The Paramount on Long Island. I think the older one is a manager. She actually went to college on a violin scholarship. The other one also is a musician. When I was just there we were talking about some of the recent acts that played The Paramount. Billy Joel did a surprise concert last week and they were saying how the Governor (Cuomo's) and other big shots had box seats. But I was most impressed that his 19 y.o. daughter had been most taken with BB King...marveling that he was 88 y.o. and still playing and said that she actually cried when he played. There is still hope in the world when you hear a kid say that, while still talking about all the current bands on tour. 21. The old "less is more" concept. While driving around listening to a USB drive I kept a couple thousand songs on, "Down By the River" by Neil Young and Crazy Horse happened to pop up. That solo starts off with the same note played nearly 40 times. It has to be one of the best, if not the best, uses of a single note in a solo. What other songs make great use of same note solos?
  22. A peavey solid state bass amp from around 1978. Got rid of it in 24 hours. POS. Funny, I actually told that to Hartley Peavey at a NAMM Show when he asked if I'd ever tried a Peavey.
  23. Oh....I hadn't seen that copyright notice. I edited my post to make the photo an "original work"
  24. Am I The FIRST to actually get my copy? (besides the guy who wrote it..) Arrived about an hour ago....FedEx guy shoved it in my door because my USPS mail lady was actually also on the front steps putting mail in my mailbox....A MailFest!! Hey....and I've even got a shot of mine on the front cover (the snakeskin doubleneck) Book looks GREAT Steve! ...a peek inside below, appropriately on Serial's former bass.
