I'm far from perfect but I'm not the one who bid on the guitar, told everyone to back off, then rectracted my bid, then tell everyone about it and the new sniping software. I'm much more simple: I just put in my maximum bid the last 10 seconds of auction.

I love WCR pickups...I've yet to try the IronMan but I've had or currently own just about every pickup Jim makes and they are all killer, depending on the application. My cover band does everything from AC/DC to Godsmack, and my favorite all around WCR pickup combo is a Fillmore bridge and Crossroads neck. Those two can do it all as far as I'm concerned. A good buddy of mine (Herc who designed the WCR pickup bearing his name) actually now prefers the IronMan. Herc is an EMG freak and even he says it eats EMGs for lunch. Finally, Jim is a true gentleman who definitely has top notch customer service.

Nice axe. So is funky munky shamelessly cashing in too? (BTW, I've bought two Washburns from funky munky but alot more from Boogie Street.)

No worries Chris....it'd be a boring world if we all liked the same things. Nice Pawnshop he's got there though. Ultimately, the neck shapes are what ended up driving my decision to sell my GMPs. But, the one doublecut had a rounded LP style neck shape...shoulda kept that one.

This statement inspired a few minutes of reflection and introspection on my part. I've concluded that a. If Gibson had made that guitar look more presentable, or even cool looking, I would have thought "Kinda expensive, but it sure looks cool" and would never have started this thread. b. If THAT guitar were a Hamer, I'd have been blinking my eyes in bewilderment and disbelief, and would have started a thread asking what were they thinking? c. If Hamer comes out with a new model that they donate part of the sale price of to hurricane relief efforts, I fully believe it will look absolutely stunning. A. What's cool to you isn't cool to me and vice versa obviously. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. B. Fair enough. C. You sure about that? (Refer to aforementioned Special K). It's a moot point anyway, because they won't.

What makes this board so great is that you're absolutely welcome to voice such an opinion here. If I were to express displeasure with this particular Gibson guitar on the Les Paul Forum, my monkey ass would be banned within 15 minutes. The Les Paul Forum is a freekin joke. I was banned there long ago when I questioned the validity of their non=profit status when Lily started selling $65 LPF tool kits. The LP version of the FDP!!!

Ah, what makes this country is so great is that none of us are forced to the buy the guitar or support Gibson. And Shirley, Hamer absolutely deserves flak for the Special K and Ecstacy insane prices and looks....truly hideous.
