  1. Dasein, your Cali is awesome. I wouldn't think spandex seeing it, I'd just think ridiculously cool custom graphic!!!
  2. We called ours the "ShoveIt"..
  3. Somebody paying crazy (to most) money for an amp that is supposed to get them near someone's sound doesn't rankle me. But then again, it also doesn't bother me that most people buying Ferraris (or other exotica) can't drive them any better than they could drive a Chevette. It took me a long time to get over that stuff, now I just think "hey man, if it makes you happy, it's your money". No skin off my back.
  4. Pretty sure this was my first Hamer, rescued from the basement of Wedgle's Pawn Shop in Denver. It was quickly followed by many others!
  5. I noticed that too. I'll bet they've sold a few just from the main guitarist in Taylor Swift's touring band playing 'em! They really are everywhere (aside from the main artist). This one still makes me scratch my head, makes you wonder how many of his sig model get sold. Monster player, but really, who knows who he is? For me, my life and Hamer's mood didn't match up. I loved the 80s guitars, but was a starving college kid. Once I had a real job and got back into music, I snagged a bunch of those shredders for cheap (used). then I started thinking "man, I wish I could have a Californian without a floyd, or a hardtail Watson..oooooooh". Would Hamer do it then? No. No shredders, no interest. Fine, I would've bought one if they had agreed to make it(I had a lot more disposable income then). Years later, and now my musical styles have branched out and I'd love to have a more retro guitar (like any of the Studios with P-90s). Since I have 2 kids and we're single income, the idea that I'd be able to swing one new sure wasn't gonna happen
  6. I just take a piece of wood, sand it down to the right size, and use double-sided tape to stick it to the metal "block" of the trem. Does exactly what you are looking for (makes it easy to tune and keep in tune, won't let you pull up, you can palm mute without changing pitch, etc) and still lets you push down on the bar. Oh, and its CHEAP.
  7. haha, I was thinking the same thing!!!!! Very cool Bats!
  8. I saw 'em touring for their first CD. the first album was awesome, the Lizard had some good and not-so-good stuff. Definitely one of those bands that got tagged as a hairband though thanks to the requisite power-ballad. ick.
  9. tip one back for me Brooks, that's my burfday! that pic makes me wax nostalgic for my sousaphone playing days
  10. BLECH!!! TG had one of those for sale, our drummer swears by his in the studio but they do nada for me. ick. Of course I couldn't get his damned modded bassman to give me a decent sound either. Good thing I'm not really a guitar player and I can make do with my Flextone..hee hee
  11. hey, you left off the bit about the weird ass feedback cmoing from your guitar rig during soundcheck BTW all, TG is now on his way to Houston. on the road again....
  12. Calis are cool, but the Centaura and Chapparal are the big bang for buck H-S-S Hamers. You can get Chaps in good shape down around $400, Centauras even cheaper.
  13. Every distorted guitar tone on Spinal Tap's first album - yuck and double yuck!!
  14. bingo!! Glad to hear everything worke dout and you're re-united!!
  15. I dunno. Korina doesn't do much for me figure-wise. Maybe because we have a dining room table that looks like that?
  16. waitaminnit, is that a Sustain block? or just a regular fixed bridge?
  17. hmm, given that I've been thinking of moving some pieces.........poor things haven't seen the light of day since we moved into our new house
  18. yeah, that Riverdogs' CD kicked booty. Really dug the songwriting, vocals, and tasty chops Viv displayed on it. Great tone too.
  19. Sure, just like there are plenty of garage bands that really DO suck, plenty of black-turtlenecked art rockers who are all about the pretense, plenty of funk horn sections that don't even realize they're out of tune, etc. Like any other sub-section of society there will be good, bad, talented, not talented, and of course assholes. (and yes, I DO agree with you, there's plenty of guys who just sweep pick their little fingers off and say nothing)
  20. Heh, that's funny since Mozart was going through my head when I was reading this thread a few times. See, there are plenty of sections of Opera that could be called "soulless". I mean, really, a soprano nailing the arias in the Magic Flute? My mom HATES that stuff. Personally, what it does for me is show me a person who has devoted enough to their craft to be able to play that piece. Essentially, that is a solo, just written out by the composer. Does it convey emotion? Sometimes, but plenty of people call it singing wankery (or something similar). I guess that pretty much backs up what you said, TG. I know if someone had called my performances on horn soulless I would've whacked 'em upside the head, but I don't think my college audition piece is known for being a soul-stirring piece. Not on tuba anyway.
  21. that headstock is what I noticed...damn...daaaaaaaaamn.
  22. I'm just glad he put band names up there or I'd have not known who most of them were.
  23. That's a pretty, pretty fmaily Mobbie!! Daaaayyyyyyyum!
