  1. I backdoored it for only $1100. Score! -Austin
  2. Never seen one in aztec gold before. That price is ludicrous though (IMO). -Austin
  3. Scary stuff! Get well soon Brooks.
  4. Very impressive!
  5. Great stuff. That first one makes me want to put down my picks for a while. -Austin
  6. Don't know how I just saw this? Anyway, I thought it was awesome. You are one talented dude Zen! I didn't find it particularly challenging to listen to though; I actually thought it was damn catchy thoughout. That probably says more about my warped musical tastes than your song though. How can I get an mp3/digital version of just the song for my iPod? -Austin
  7. Happy Birthday Guys!
  8. That custom order only policy was instituted under his watch over year and a half ago, IIRC. Well, shows you how much I've been paying attention! Anyway, It would be nice if, eventually, Hamer could get away from custom-only sometime in the (far distant) future, but given that it was probably that or go belly-up, I'm certainly not complaining. And has anyone tried to order a guitar like Kim's yet? -Austin
  9. Austin - Jol didn't just invent all of those guitars, you know that, right? Yeah I know, but it seems his departure coincides with the custom-order only move, which doesn't really seem to support the ideas of new models being introduced. I suppose I'm guilty of conflating the 2 things in my mind without any evidence that they're related. -Austin
  10. Aw, come on Austin! Post Jol surprises list, to me, so far: 1-Crowns 2-Logo placement 3-FB's 4-? I'm sure we'll be seeing more... Hey, I'm not saying they're not cool, because they definitely are, but it seems as though what we will be seeing from Hamer is flexibility in options combined with a willingness to resuscitate dormant models. And as far as actual new stock models, like the Tallys and Monacos, it looks like we won't be seeing anything like that. -Austin
  11. That makes one of you! What I mean is, since I'm not going to be custom ordering any new Hamers and it's doesn't look like they're going to be doing any stock models anytime soon, I don't really see any surprises coming out of Hamer; just the same great guitars they've been doing all along to a smaller audience (not that it was big to begin with ). I'm sure I wouldn't be able to afford whatever Jol might do either, but it might be more interesting from an "oh look, another guitar I can afford" sort of way. -Austin
  12. No idea, but I'm kind of more interested in what Dantzig might be doing guitar-industry wise than Hamer. -Austin
  13. Seems reasonable to me. Also, I just listened to some A7X stuff from their new album and, well, lets just say it's not my cup of tea  -Austin
  14. I would have agreed with you if not for the Liquid Tension Experiment CD I have (the first one). The guy's a complete monster player, but he tends to mostly just remind me of other players I like more when I listen to him (primarily the 2 Steve's (Morse and Vai)), except for Liquid Tension Experiment. So that makes me think it's less about him and more about the context he's usually playing in. Anyway, given that DT is at the top of the prog heap and has been for a long time, it's surprising to me that there would be some sort of financial component to them wanting to not take a break. Especially given that, AFAIK, they could all keep themselves as busy as they wanted with side projects. -Austin
  15. A bit melodramatic, but then from what I understand, he was the driving force of the band in all facets, so I'll cut him some slack. -Austin
  16. Nice! I would have thought full binding came standard on those (I've never seen one without it), so I wouldn't have expected to have to spec it. -Austin
  17. Exactly so. Something/Anything and Hermit of Mink Hollow should be your first two. Then I would probably suggest Back to the Bars and Nearly Human. A Wizard, A True Star is a classic, but may be a little much for a first-timer. Better to work up to that a bit. (IMO.) ... I actually have 2 Todd albums already, Nearly Human and Acapella (which is brilliant). I just decided it was time to check out some of his older stuff. Plus, I'm no stranger to weird "pop" music, so I'll probably be o.k. We'll, see... -Austin
  18. White celluloid, extra heavy would be fine by me. How many do I have to order? -Austin
  19. --> QUOTE(David B @ Aug 24 2010, 06:34 PM) ← Great Googly Moogly!
  20. Indeed! -Austin
  21. Thanks for the all the suggestions! I think I'm going to stat with A Wizard a True Star because I love International Feel and take it from there. I'm getting them off eMusic, so I don't really need to get full albums, but I think it would be better to listen to them as they were intended. -Austin
  22. So I have a couple of things of his, but not enough. What 2 albums would you fans recommend. Doesn't have to be just Todd himself obviously, Nazz, Utopia, whatever is good. I'd prefer actual albums, but if there's some particularly wonderful greatest hits collection out there, that would be cool too. -Austin
  23. So is the neck as fiendishly thin as advertised or is it just "shredder thin"? -Austin
