  1. If it was a guy, viewers would think it was just Vai on a splitscreen. It's hard enough to tell Ori and him apart as it is. -Austin
  2. Wow. That makes her pop crap even more depressing Also, not to be shallow, but lose the bangs for the love of god (get it? ) - Austin
  3. Happy Birthday(s)!
  4. Well, FMIC, could in fact "shut" down the board, but really, it would only require a name change that didn't include "Hamer" ala the Birds and Moons forum. I certainly see no reason to self-censor myself, but if the powers that be on the board decide differently that's their call since I'm just a guest here. Also, interesting to know that it was a Kaman thing and not a Fender thing. - Austin
  5. I've had a few Soloists and they were all pretty good, but I found the control layout extremely annoying on all of them. - Austin
  6. Not necessarily -Austin
  7. I would think that if Hamer's business model supported that, they wouldn't have been owned by Kaman and then sold to Fender in the first place. Maybe the conversation went like this... FMIC: The 80's are coming back in a big way, it's time to re-issue some bolt-neck shredders with boomers! JOL: Over my dead body! FMIC: Security will be coming to escort you out in 20 minutes. ...although maybe not. Anyway, I hope everyone on the Hamer end lands on their feet even if the brand itself ends up vanishing into the ether. - Austin
  8. The one lone non-Hamer guitar I have is unlike anything Hamer has ever built. Hamer is, IMO, great at what they do, but they don't cover all the bases. Still they're one of only a handful of guit companies that I'm really "down" with. - Austin
  9. And? -Austin
  10. Asking that question is basically asking how much would you pay for a custom Hamer. I doubt there's more than a handful of people on this board that have any insight into the costs involved in building a Hamer, so I doubt you'll get any intelligent replies to your question. MCC's excepted of course. - Austin
  11. Well right, the headstocks and bridges were different. Everything else looked exact to me. Certainly more so than a TLE or a Vintage S. Well, the body radius on the T51's was way rounder than any Fender Tele and I've never seen a bridge like the one on the T51. The Daytona I guess just had the different bridge. But both had fingerboard radiuses that were waaaay flatter than anything Fenders ever* made. But like I said, I'm just being nitpicky. -Austin *If challenged, I will in no way try to back up this statement
  12. I'm fairly certain the strategy had something to do with trying to make money while the bottom was falling out the shredder market I mean, you're already setup to make bolt-ons, so why not. Also, they weren't dead-nuts copies, although perhaps I'm being nitpicky? - Austin
  13. This cost me $1000 used and was in perfect condition: Hamer cannot, and has not for many years, been able to produce any new guitar that can compete with the many, many, used Hamers that are already out there. And for them to try to do so would be even more suicidal than people think their current strategy is. And given the rate at which they produce new models (or should that be "produced"), I don't see how you can accuse them of wanting to make the same thing they've been making for 30 years. Although it seems that alot of the people in this thread wish that's exactly what they were doing - Austin
  14. I thought Hamer had no problem doing custom neck carves? - Austin
  15. I'd say no. I do wonder if they're going to be building other guitars out of the their factory and if so, what brands? - Austin
  16. Most of Seymour Duncan's production P90's have ceramic magnets (the Custom and Hot series do; the Vintage series does not). Also, both of Dimarzio's P90's have ceramic magnets. Specials had a Duncan Hot P90 in the neck and a Custom P90 in the bridge (that's what's in my 2004). Not sure about what they're using in the models the OP mentioned. - Austin
  17. I wouldn't go for the original yellow myself, but white is pretty standard for setneck Calis (that's the color mine was and the color of the only one I've seen on eBay years ago). I'd go for some sort of tasteless flip-flop or snakeskin myself. But I'm crazy. -Austin
  18. A little background noise, but nothing major. At any rate, this is sold pending payment. -Austin
  19. Bought this off the board a month or 2 back. Works as advertised, but I'm not using it as much as I thought I would. $100 shipped. Thanks for looking. -Austin
  20. I don't know shit about shit, but from the "audience" perspective, you must have a great song selection, great vocals and a great rhthym section. Crack all the drummer jokes you want, but if the drummer sucks, the band sucks. Instrumentally, the rest just needs to be adequate and I personally don't give a rat's ass whether the instrumentation is note-for-note, as long as the feel is maintained. Also, if it looks like you are "working" (as opposed to having fun) onstage, I'm not going to be enjoying watching you. - Austin
  21. Some people in this thread are in need of some cheese. -Austin
  22. PRS hasn't used Mann-Made trems for years and years. -Austin
  23. Yup. Gotoh 510 series are awesome! I've had them on a few Suhrs and on my Melancon and they rock! -Austin
  24. Umm...2nd post -Austin
  25. So is the price that high because of cost of labor and materials, or is it set that high to discourage orders? Exactly... Guitar This would be less than half of that and in a similar league quality wise. Why would a Californian cost more than an Improv unless to discourage orders? Suhr's coming out with a setneck Modern as well (this winter NAMM from what I understand) and it's going to be expensive as hell! Anyone that would expect Hamer to build a similar guitar for less is dreaming. -Austin
