  1. What exactly are you doing to that guitar?!? Nevermind, I don't really want to know -Austin
  2. Eagerly awaiting pics. I'll be getting a bag or 2 of whatever's closest to a Jazz III. -Austin
  3. The PRails are headed to Spain! However, the Dimarzio remains. -Austin
  4. 10" of wire on each pickup. $125 PayPal'd and shipped for both. I've also got a Dimarzio Pro Track that has been drilled out for direct mounting. 12" of wire. $40 PayPal'd and shipped. Thanks for looking. -Austin
  5. And I think that speaks volumes for the guitars. People still admire and respect the guitars produced *despite* some of us feeling unappreciated. Well, some people require different amounts of appreciation too I suppose. My mom was telling me once she felt underappreciated at her job and I told her her appreciation was in the paycheck she got every 2 weeks However, I've never really been accused of being a touchy feely person, so there you go. Plus, when I got into Hamer it had absolutely nothing to do with the company's "mystique". I was just looking for an affordable, used US-made double cut with good upper fret access and Hamer fit the bill in all ways. Compared to the guitars themselves, any other alleged or actual douchiness in the business is secondary. Now, having said that, if I ever see a factory-made Hamer with a rebel flag on it, I will sell all my Hamers! -Austin
  6. Nonsense... Show me *ONE* person with that attitude. Since when is *anyone* above being criticized? People on this thread has been critical of his business sense AND given him his due for the things that he *did* get right. None of it has been personal, all of it has been business. I have met Jol, he seems like a great guy. That doesn't mean that I have to agree with everything he does or says and when I *don't* it doesn't mean that I think less of him as a human. "Piss all over"...give me a break. For a smart guy, you sure say some dumb sh*t. LOL!!!!! Yes, I would say that people's attitude to Hamer on the board here is actually very good in that regard. There's the occasional person that thinks that just because they bought a couple used Californians, Hamer should resissue them and sell them for $350 each, but every complaint I've seen in this thread is valid. There's a difference between something like discontinuing crown inlays for vics across the board and just randomly redrawing the line on what you will and will not do. Or not so randomly. -Austin
  7. I would think most people's "relaionship" with Jol is a bit more nuanced that either drinking all the koolaid or dismissing him entirely. Or, make that "hope". -Austin
  8. Clearly you were in the minority. Otherwise Jol would still have a job at Hamer. Umm, everyone who has ever bought a Hamer is in the minority guitar-buying wise, so... Anyway, I agree with Jonathan's statement myself, but then I never had any problem getting what I wanted -Austin
  9. Crowns, bound F-hole, Brazilian or ebony, possible custom color. Nice! -Austin
  10. Decked out? How so? Laura Press style? -Austin
  11. Totally irrelevant to the issue at hand. The issue some people had with Jol was his refusal to do *very basic* mods to a guitar. Nobody here is talking about them bringing back a set-neck short scale Chap with boomers. Nobody disputes that Hamer made spectacular guitars. But when the person who makes the decision speaks out of both sides of their mouth, and expects us not to notice, there is an issue. Case in point... I can't tell you how many times I have heard Jol say (I am paraphrasing) that the pickups he puts in are generic because he knows the owner will "put their stink on it anyway". Then he turns around and refuses to *let* the owner of the new custom order "put their stink on it". Baffling. Or the refusal to do opaque colors on custom orders only to let other people order the same exact guitar a few months later. Sorry bro, but spectacular guitars aside, Jol cost Hamer at *least* 10K in orders from this member alone with that petty bullshit. I had money in hand wanting to order a Korina Vector in white only to be told "no". Same guitar shows up at NAMM that very year. To say I was livid would be an understatement. Man, you carry a grudge better than my wife! -Austin P.S. I kid because I love
  12. Eh. I prefer the Custom Custom, Custom, and Custom 8 honestly. The Custom 5 was fine, but it just didn't have the "personality" of the other Customs for me (at least in the guitar I tried it in). -Austin
  13. Does the money I've spent on Hamers still count if I bought them and then sold them later? If so I'm good for a fair amount -Austin
  14. Jeff R = Rockstar -Austin
  15. I'm not what you'd call a hardcore fan, but that's by far my favorite song of theirs. -Austin
  16. I saw them back in college right as their first album was breaking and they were great. They definitely deliver the goods live. -Austin
  17. There's one on eBay with the same finish right now (interesting how that always seems to happen), but the top on MCC's is waaaaaaaaaay cooler (IMO). -Austin
  18. "But if you rock, why not get a guitar as badass as you are?" Awesome! -Austin
  19. The name is unimportant. Buy it now! -Austin
  20. Happy Birthday(s)!
  21. Cents, Calis and Diablos have smaller bodies than Chaps, so they can be just as/more comfortable with smaller relief carves. Anyway, I play all sorts of guitars and it's rarely something I think about. The only place it really bothers me is on Teles. -Austin
  22. I don't suppose that Studio Custom has a bound headstock? -Austin
  23. I'd call Hamer directly and ask them to send you a replacement if I were you. -Austin
