  1. Caveat: I've never tried a Kemper Best regardless of price: Axe FX 2 Best w/ price as an issue: 11Rack I've tried all the floor units and for me, there was a huge leap going from the Line6 HD500 to the 11Rack. The Axe2 is definitely superior in every way, but it's a smaller gap. - Austin
  2. Score! Seriously, congratulations. - Austin
  3. Is there any chance this is really stock? Seems like running strings through on a wraptail would tend to result in the bridge tilting over time? http://www.ebay.com/itm/HAMER-USA-ECLIPSE-SEYMOUR-DUNCAN-MINI-S-TONEPROS-POSTS-STRING-THROUGH-BODY-TONE-/300719394683?pt=Guitar&hash=item460445cf7b#ht_2742wt_1288 - Austin
  4. I'm picturing some sort of "Get me blackie" scenario going horribly wrong if I was working on your crew. - Austin
  5. No cork-sniffing beliefs here. I've played enough guitars to know that my general hackiness will overcome any subleties of construction anyway. I am picky about what I want on my guitars, but there's nothing mystical or cork-sniffery about it. - Austin
  6. Get Mike Keneally and Beer for Dolphin's album "Dancing". If you don't believe EMG's can sound great going in, you definitely will by the time your done. I don't use active pickups because I'm just used to passives, but there are all sorts of people out there who make EMG's sound great. - Austin
  7. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7846322/taking-concert-doubleheader-creed-nickelback-world-most-hated-bands Love this guy's writing (although his podcast interview with Sammy Hagar which is linked to at the end of the article was a bit embarrassing for him IMO). - Austin
  8. Was your Diablo II USA ever coil splittable??? I've had 2 Diablo II's and I don't believe either one was coil-splittable; although I believe only the 2nd one was stock. - Austin
  9. I preferred the Diablo; more lively; but I don't know that the comparison is that meaningful since everything about the 2 guitars is different. put a different bridge pickup in the Jem and play it distorted (very limited way to compar the 2 given that they are HSH guitars) and I might like the Jem more. - Austin
  10. Damn that's fine! - Austin
  11. He certainly left his stamp. RIP Jim. - Austin
  12. The maple-topped bucker version, by a mile, especially if you throw on a different bridge and a single coil in the middle (pickup routing courtesy of Murkat). I've had a handful of Mirage I's and never bonded with them. - Austin
  13. Supremely silly. Not necessarily in a bad way though. - Austin
  14. Never heard the early stuff, but I got his Speed of Sound album in the 80's and wore the tape out. He was a great player. RIP. - Austin
  15. For some reason, I always thought that was a strat? I loved that song when I was a kid and only found out it was Santana after that album with "Smooth" came out. Still can't reconcile Winning with the Black Magic Woman/Smooth Santana sounds. There were all sorts of Gib-oid guys that went Fender in the 80's. - Austin
  16. Very nicely done! I found delay on the vocals a bit distracting for some reason. It was just loud enough to call attention to itself, but not really lound enough to sound like it was intended as an "effect". I listened through headphones though; I would imagine it's unnoticeable through speakers. - Austin
  17. I'd say that FTP's single was more subversive and "rock and roll" than anything the Foo's have done for years. Anyway, nothing will ever top the Jethro Tull debacle as far as ridiculous Grammy categorizations goes. And finally...Chris Brown... *shakes head* - Austin
  18. He learned from the best Glad I'm not the only "cynic" around here lol. Seriously. I mean, the "garage" he recorded his album in is nicer than my house! - Austin
  19. I've pretty much owned every Hamer I've wanted. Except a 25th Ltd/Artist Custom with an ebony fretboard. And I doubt I'd want to own them (at least not long term), but I'd like to play a Newport 90 and a Tally Pro at some point. - Austin
  20. Ah, that brings back memories of closing time at the McDonald's I worked at the summer after Freshman year in college - Austin
  21. Quoted for truth. Also, Maxwell. - Austin
