Hey, that song is great! At least you won't get asked to play Mustang Sally with that guitar! - Austin

Umm, I thought we agreed we were going for nekkid wimmens on this one? Not bad though -Austin PS. How tuff is the finish on thos pickup covers? Is it something you have to worry about rubbing off or is it bulletproof? Seems like likes of folks take off the painted pickups and put them in a box somewhere to keep them pristine (which doesn't make sense; I mean why get them painted if you're not going to show them off?).

!!! Jackson Soloist vs. Hamer Californian !!!
atquinn replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
My AT Pro Soloist is a better fit for me than any of the Calis I've had, but I'd still probably pick one of those over a "regular" Soloist. -Austin -
Is This Guy A Little Too Full Of Himself?
atquinn replied to elduave's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Marco's the guy I would want to play with most, but Mike seems like he's far and the away the best fit. I believe it's common knowledge that he got it? So I'm thinking this video series is partly a way to answer all the bands fans who wonder why they didn't get X or Y monster drummer. -Austin -
Quite a bit lighter, even though it sustains better. So mass isn't the only part of the equation! Better tone and lighter weight? Double win! - Austin

Very cool. Except for that hideous logo. How heavy did the bridge overall feel in comparison to the original? - Austin

replacement trem bar for Hamer Mirage I

7 Mirages and 3 Daytonas?!? MrHappy is right! - Austin -
replacement trem bar for Hamer Mirage I
atquinn replied to Morris Davis's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I think it's smaller. I have a Daytona, and a bar that fits the Daytona doesn't fit the Mirage. O.k., that's weird, because they should have the exact same trem?!? - Austin -

Right on Steve... same in DC. And probably each of those kids had a parent who was duped into taking them. The kids don't know what she's about... they think she is Selena Gomez, or some other current Disney star. And since I don't relate to pop music, I was not really too familiar with her. So does she have an obligation to the younger fans? That could be a lengthy debate in itself. I would assume the the kids have a much greater idea what Gaga is about than their parents! Twasn't it ever thus? -Austin

replacement trem bar for Hamer Mirage I
atquinn replied to Morris Davis's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I have trem bars coming out the wazoo, so if someone know what the diameter on the bars is, I can check to see if one of mine would fit and send it off to you. - Austin -

Most Unique Hamer Ever Made (highly custom)

I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but what pickups are in that bad boy? -Austin -
Most Unique Hamer Ever Made (highly custom)

I was reading about your Floyded studio on an older post and that you had them make the guitar thick like a Les Paul. That is a sersiously sweet guitar man. Seriously. I would love to have something like that. Does the thickness impact the tone any in your opinion? I will share a nugget on my Chap thats being made - it will be quite thick, according to Jamie H at KMC it will be Les Paul thick. I think from a tone stand point, that would add another element of cool. I'm not sure how it affects the tone exactly, but my idea was to replace some of the mahogany that was removed in the bellcut and floyd rout to kind of maintain the usual mahogany-to-maple ratio that is in a regular Studio. It sounds good, so I can't complain. - Austin -
Most Unique Hamer Ever Made (highly custom)

There are probably hundres that are equally unique in terms of there not being anything with the exact same specs. My 06 Floyded Studio is pretty unique in it's feature set. So, is the PesoPro. I always got to Keller's archtop Chappifornian when this question comes up though because I've never seen anything remotely like it. - Austin -
Labs are the best! Nice gear too. What's the amp? -Austin

It has something to do with my name. Or does it? Mwah ha ha ha ha! - Austin

Depends on what guitar they're going on, but I definitely prefer one's with thumbwheels in the back. Sperzel, Schaller and Grover all make good ones. Planet Waves work fine but I don't like that they cut the strings as it complicates pickup swaps. -Austin

Putting HAMER back on the metal map
atquinn replied to kevinbower1959's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Finally got a chance to watch this and I thought it was great. I would have preferred slightly more cookie monster vocals (I can't believe I'm writing that ), but really, I thought it was great. Good on you guys! -Austin -
I didn't like the EMG's or Duncan Blackouts I had in my 1994 Studio Custom. They weren't bad in an objective sense, just too different from the passive pickups I'm used to. There are all sorts of people that sound great with them so, so maybe you'll be one? Also, if you have the space, you should try the 18 Volt mod; it makes a very noticeable difference in the sound (whether it's better or not is up to the listener) and is cheap and easy to do. -Austin

That's how I feel about Reb in Whitesnake to. He just doesn't have that LP sound. BTW, if you want to hear some good Aldrich, get your hands on Dio's Killing the Dragon. Generally speaking, I don't think the material he's played on is as good as his playing, but the guy is a beast! -Austin
-
If you added up the ages of everyone else in the band, how much would you have to add to get to Coverdale's age? Anyway, not a Whitesnake fan, but I love Aldrich; he's really in his element there (more so than Reb I'd say, who's also phenomenal). -Austin

My Redwood Studio is noticeable darker than my other Studios. Might be the ebony fretboard on my other Studios? Not sure. Either way, the Redwood is a great all-arounder. -Austin
