Jonesin for another Les Paul.....
DaveH replied to kurtsstuff's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Thanks Dave....bastid....hehe Kurt, would you be interested in a Heritage? It has minor play wear, the hardware that is nickel has a nice patina to it, and it had a fret dress by Mark Erlewine shortly before I aquired it. Plays great, and it has Gibson '57 Classics in both positions. -
Condolences and prayers here dude.

What, you don't like the clean looking ones like this? (Btw, it's NOT for sale, I'm just trying to make your LP jones a little more intense.) -

It's my birthday where's the love

Happy Birthday Chris! -
The one in the middle looks great! Is that Korina? Yep, it's korina with an ebony board. Here's a better pic of it. There sure are a lot of beautiful guitars in this thread.

To my ears, korina has much the same characteristics as mahogany. It has good bottom end, but the enhanced upper mids/highs give it a bit more clarity imo. Still, I like 'em both, but I lean to korina. Btw, fck snakes AND alder!

Parts Pay It Forward
DaveH replied to phoenix's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Steve, I just dropped you an email. I don't need any of the parts, but wanted to reiterate that I'm happy for the good news regrding your wife. And I also want to publicly brag on your hot sauce...this stuff is shizznitz! -
That comes out to 30% off the list. That's in line with some dealers....some others will go 40%, but that's pretty much it. If it's brand new and EXACTLY what you want, and the dealer is reputable/gives good service, I'd say go for it....the MOST you could save anywhere else would be another $300 - $400. Of course, if they're stuck with a custom order and are wanting to get out from under it, they might come off of it a little more too.

From the pics of the neck, it doesn't look like an error to me.....the outer strings appear to be running uniformly parallel to the edges of the fretboard. I'd say that would be out of whack if they had cut the slots in the center.

You know what they say about opinions. I was just saying it in a nice way, 'cause he came across wrong in the way I read it....I wasn't being 'parental'. Now quit taking things the wrong way!

Luke, There are inherent dangers in online communications, most noteably the lack facial expressions and body language. It's very easy to be taken in the wrong light because of this. You need to be extra careful how you word things in this environment so that you don't come across wrong. "Holier than thou? Right over his head"? I don't think so....your written communication was just a little careless. Count me as another who came away from reading your initial post with the impression that you were a liar/cheat. Honestly, I'm glad to find that this is not the case afterall. I feel your pain about dishonest sellers, I've had several encounters with them on ebay myself over the years. The positive side is that in contrast to those several incidents, I've had nearly 400 transactions that were trouble-free. Anyway, maybe everyone needs to be quicker to give the benefit of a doubt, AND choose their words more carefully.

Steve, Yeah, I think you may be right. I'm honestly having trouble seeing the joint lines, but Rich was looking at it last night and he thought the same thing, that it is a three-pice. Either way it doesn't matter to me, a lot of love went into it!

Thanks! I'll still get some better pics together. Btw, that dark area betwen the neck pup and the fingerboard....I originally thought that was going to be a piece broke out or something, but it's not. It looks like a dark spot in the wood, and is under the laquer.

I'll get some pics together tonight or in the morning. The seller is supposed to be trying to get some history and background info on this axe for me, but I really don't know anything about it as yet....other than it has a one-piece neck, which struck me as odd. It has a one piece body too, and it feels ALIVE in your hands!

The korina Eclipse arrived today, and it' sweeter in person than the pics had indicated. It's light and very lively. Unplugged, it has that fine-ass fundamental rock n roll tone that lets you know it's a screamer. I'm doing a setup on it right now, but it played great as it was too, just a little more relief than I like. Initial inspection revealed that this guitar is unique in more ways than one: -First is the obvious, it's made from korina, and the body is one-piece -Secondly, the neck is also one-piece! I didn't think they did this with the exceptions of early models, and the more recent Triple Threats. Was this an option in the 90's? Anyway, I think it's going to be very easy to convert the neck pup back to the original mini-hum....I'll probably have to glue some wood gussets in the two inside corners for the bezel to get screwed into (the two outer screws are intact).
