This is what I've done as well....except I used a piece of walnut since I have a handful of boards on hand. Use a drop of super glue (so you can get it back out if you need to) and you're set.

This. I would take 4 of them in black...1 Lg, 1 XL, and 2 2XL (if that helps with a count).

Anyone try the RS Guitarworks Ultimate Hamer Upgrade Kit?
DaveH replied to Kurt L's question in Ask the HFC Experts
This. -
Heh, maybe I should change mine to 'Clams'. LOL, I knew someone years ago who got really frustrated trying to come up with an AOL email address....it kept kicking back every one he tried. Finally in desperation, he entered 'snailfart'. It worked.

I always loved 'Action', and 'Ballroom Blitz'. I have to admit though, I liked Krokus's remake of BB better.

That is sexy. Damn.

Schroeder wrap bridge How do you like it, and how does it compare to the Tonepros and Pigtails?

Honestly, I'm not that impressed with the clean side. It's doable, but I got it for the gain channel, and it's fantastic in that realm. I was really caught off guard by it. Oh, and the controls actually work like they're supposed to....the Night Train shouldn't even have controls except for volume. The TT is better, but both are flatulent in the low end. The Blackstar is tight....I run mine through a Mesa Thiele cab, love it. If you're looking for clean, you can do better than this one. If you require heavenly distortion and can live with so-so clean, you need this amp. ETA: This amp has a push-pull output section. I'm sure this has a lot to do with why I like it so much. Curiously, I found the new stock issue 12BH7 sounded better to me than any of the NOS ones I tried. Weird. The NOS *might* give it a better clean, but I was only comparing the gain side.

You ought to try out a Blackstar HT-5 before you buy anything. I played a Vox Night Train, an Orange Tiny Terror, and the Blackstar....the Blackstar totally blew the others out of the water. No contest.

most challenging gig of my life last night...........

Makes me sweat bullets to think about it. -
Mine is a mixed emotion story involving my #013 Korina Vector. A good friend of mine had purchased #013 Korina Standard from the run in '96...later he purchased #013 Vector when they built that run to have a matching set. The Vector stayed in the case and stored away, never played, for nearly 10 years. He decided to let it go (I even ran pics and an ad on here for him). I wanted it, but declined since I didn't have the money. No more was said about it, and several months went by when I inquired about it, but it had already been sold to someone he knew. So I kicked myself for not moving on it and looked around for the next couple years, finally being convinced I would never get my 1 of 72 korina Vectors. Around this time the person who had purchased the Vector from Rich passed away, and nothing was known about the whereabouts or status of the guitar....until this past April. An estate sale was announced online, and the Vector was there. Fortunately, I had just received a big chunk back from the IRS or I'd have been screwed on it (I was actually *supposed* to pay off a bill with this portion, but you know how that goes, lol). I went to the sale accompanied by my bud who originally had it, had to outbid some guy from New York who wanted to take it away (we're in SC), but it came home with me. So, I hate that the circumstances had to unfold the way they did for me to get the Vector, but I'm glad that it's home with me now. Another elusive one, a Martin D15. I was looking at Taylors and Gibsons at GC on one of the rare occasions I go into that place. I was bouncing around these $2K to $3K guitars when I saw this drab little $800 D15 hanging there....I grabbed it off the wall, and couldn't believe my ears! Instant love! It had a rich, growly rock n roll tone, almost an overdriven acoustic tone if that makes any sense. Again, I procrastinated, and left without the guitar. I thought about it more throughout the week and decided I had to have it....went back the following Saturday and it was gone. From time to time I would go in there and look in the acoustic room, but they never had another one. Fast forward about 3 years....I walked in the acoustic room, and saw this drab little D15 hanging there with a used tag on it! It still had the pickguard plastic on it! I pulled it down strummed a few chords (convinced it was my same guitar), and headed for the front counter with it. As we were checking out I relayed the story to the clerk, he said " Oh yeah, it's the same guitar. It's the only D15 we've had, they sent us whatever they wanted when we opened, and we don't get those for stock". So, I got my drab little D15 that beat the crap out of Taylors costing 3 and 4 times as much. Not a Hamer, but a happy ending for me!

Umm, so FB's and reverse hockey sticks aren't interesting? Not that I'm into a guitar configured as such, but I would love to have a Studio with a hockey stick (Standard) headstock. Jol flat refused this request more times than anyone will ever know....since he has left Hamer, this can actually turn into a reality. In my opinion that is what a custom shop is supposed to be, and I predict there will be many interesting surprises coming out of their shop. With Jol at the helm they were not a true custom shop, only custom according to Jol....they were really just an 'Options' shop, and they only did it their way. I say good riddance in that respect. I do have other concerns about his leaving, however. One of the things I'm waiting for is to see how Gibson reacts to some of this. Evidently, Hamer has had some sort of agreement with Gibson in regards to the DC body and Explorer/Standard headstocks. Anyone else would have been hit with a lawsuit, I'm sure. Is this going to change now that their main competitor and rival is the new owner of Hamer, Jol is gone, and they doing some ballsy builds?

I have my thoughts and opinions n motor oils, but there have been enough of those posted already. At the end of the day what matters is that changing it on time or even early is cheap insurance. So whatever oil you go with, just change it regularly, and (at the minimum) when you're supposed to.

iRig from Amplitube Demo Video
DaveH replied to Taylor Player's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Heard from a Verizon insider that the iPhone will be available with Verizon plans in September.....we'll see! I'd be shocked if that happens. There's a guy on either TGP or the Acoustic Guitar Forum who says he's the guy who would be ordering the infrastructure needed to support an iPhone on Verizon and he's done nothing and heard nothing. As would I. They've been propagating those rumors forever, it seems, and I really don't look for it to happen. I'll be happy if it does though, and I'll definitely jump on one. I never understood why Apple crawled in bed with AT&T on this. Their earnings would have been way higher had they worked something out with Verizon. It would have been very beneficial to both sides. Maybe I'm missing something. -
Dang, triple rabbit ears getting rabbit-eared! Looks like a great time!

That is really cool. One of two things should happen...either Verizon should be offering the iPhone, or this should be ported over to Android for the Moto Droid. It will never replace a real amp imo, but this would be so handy. -
Broken Toggle USA Hamer Korina Vector
DaveH replied to Morris Davis's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Yeah, the stock switch just has a gold nut. I bought a new one from Mojo and one from Stewmac, the one I got from Stewmac is a much nicer switch than the Mojo. Here's the one I was talking about: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_p...gle_Switch.html -
Broken Toggle USA Hamer Korina Vector
DaveH replied to Morris Davis's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Hate to disagree, but screw that. They want freaking $35 for a gold replacement switch....Kim just quoted that to me the week before last for that same exact switch, for the same exact guitar. Go to Stewmac's website, they have a high quality gold version listed (it's ALL gold) for $15, and it has a very positive feel to it. -
If You Could Be Master of One Instrument...

Jews harp. Or maybe kazoo. Seriously though, this: -
Maybe not what you had in mind, but this piece is definitely a limited edition....there are only 10 or 12 in existence. I spoke with Kim about this, and that is what he told me. Someone had unthinkably had it routed for a P90 before I aquired it, so what can you do? Anyway, the Korina Eclipse:

If you got it for that price, then that deal HAS to be an all-time HFC record! Congrats!
