  1. oh they got the tooling.. they made phantom customs in Connecticut you know They made this one 5 years ago:
  2. Since 2005, Dave Hlubek has been plaing with Molly Hatchet again... one of the two original members. Dave is a Dean Guitars endorsee too. He is still big as a house and wails but I have not seen him in The Bobby Ingram Band , I mean Molly Hatchet, with him back in it yet. I met Dave about 6 months after I bought 0189 in a Jacksonville club and he told me the guitar "wasn't any good any more and wouldn't hold a tune on the G string". By then it had had a once over by my favorite local tech with the nut setup for 10-46 so I wasn't having any problems. Kept it the same as the day I bought it for 14 years. I had to get it refretted in '96 and I had a new nut put on it then, but no other parts were ever changed. Stays in tune just Fine Dave. Think he was just irked he pawned it and lost it? Right after I met Dave, Late Spring of '83, I also called the Hamer offices and gave them the serial numbers of the two guitars I had requesting any info. In a couple days a call was returned to me. It was a Frank but dont recall which of the two it was, Frank U. or Frank R.. He wasn't to happy about the sum I had paid for them, the fact Dave had pawned them, and asked if I had receipts from the pawn shop. I did. I think my heart palpatated a few seconds when he told me that, yes, the Standard was made for Dave but how he got the Vector was a question as it was made for Michael Schenker. Dave had told me they toured together and he gave it to Dave at the last date together but he never played it. I think in recall that irked Frank a lil more too. Frank wished me well and I've been a Hamer owner since with 24.5 to my name. The .5 is a '93 Daytona neck mounted on a late '70s Mighty Mite Explorer body. I have since learned 0189 is the Standard right after James Honeyman-Scott's and 3 numbers before Dez Dickerson's, of Prince's band at the time, Standard. Nice company of owners. My Hamers: http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26447 My .5 a Hamer..... MDHM Armitage there has quite a few Hamers too. Life is Good eh Bill? Cool stories.
  3. Does he know about it or is it a complete surprise?
  4. Aqualung - Tull
  5. Paul can play. This went quick. If he needs anything else?? Is he into recording on a computer?
  6. Just give him a chance to grow. its your birthday You should be dancing. Yeah... Yeah, I know. it's your unbirthday.
  7. Well, after looking at this thread I have another dream. I don't know Peter/HamStd and he doesn't know me, but it would be like a day at Disney to spend some time looking at his collection.
  8. Well, I crossed off three items with the purchase of my prototype II A usa hamer, a single coil guitar, and a trem. Now I still desire a USA standard and a B12 Hamer bass.
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. Happy Birthday! Everyone!
  11. That sucks if true. Are we going see Dantzig Guitars now?
  12. I'm thinking that should be more like 22.75 Hamers... The .5 is the Hamer USA Daytona neck on my Mighty Hamer Daytona Mite. Late 70s Mighty Mite(Wayne Charvel) Explorer body mated with a Daytona neck. Love! So, if i calculate correctly, it should be 22.25 considering the 3/4 standard.
  13. Just had to say. I love your sig pic. Have to show it too my daughter. She's not into metal but I think she'll appreciate the message. Gotta like the .5 part! :-) I think I've played the .5 part if he's talking about his mini standard. If not?
  14. WOW! That's some good years!
  15. I have a 83 USA Cruise bass. A fender USA made Bullit bass from 1982/3. I have a cheap Palmer V that will be going soon. I bought a Hamer XT import standard about 5 years ago because I wanted to be able to play it before buying and couldn't afford anything better. I have an old epiphone acoustic that I've had since 87 or so. I just bought an 84 Prototype II from Matt. Just sent the check and hoping it gets here soon. Can't wait. First guitar I've ever bought without touching it first. I feel confident that it will be a great guitar knowing it is a Hamer. Doesn't mean other guitars aren't great, just I feel I can trust Hamer's quality and the HFC.
  16. Does gramma read the HFC too? Sorry, couldn't resist.
  17. I am not usually influenced by advertising to buy things. If fact I will sometimes not buy something based on the advertising. So in a way I am influenced but not the way the marketeer hopes. I got into Hamers back in the early 80's after watching Cheap Trick. I don't remember seeing ads but I do remember seeing Tom and Rick play their guitars and loving the sound. Tom is why I bought my Hamer Cruise bass in 1984.
  18. Yea, I saw that too. Changed my travel plans.
  19. The Canadian side of Mt. Rushmore.
  20. I had an old pointy ibanez I bought around 1985 or so. I don't even remember the model. I loved that guitar but I couldn't afford it and had to sell it. I don't even have a picture of it. All my other guitars (except the Hondo II) I still have.
