at the moment my electrics are a very sparse(need to remedy this) 93 studio, beater mid 90's daytona(amazing axe) and my go to bizarro t-51(arm cut????) , i play hamer for the absolute quality at a great price on the used market, never felt another guitar that just feels right in my hands like a hamer, bought my first cali in 89 and have never looked back.........................

Harry, I believe that's what they wished they could have been. In the consumer's mind, "perception is reality". Hamer is perceived as a "wonderful bang for the buck guitar". Very few people would -and will- be willing to get a $5k Custom Order from Hamer. Why would they? Hamers are supposed to be cheap! They just did not position themselves for what they want to be, but with today's competition, and with their decisions about design, it's too late. I don't think that's going to work. And, yes, PRS did it. I don't think for a minute PRS makes a better guitar than Hamer, but they could ingrain effectively the idea in the consumer's mind...and that was it. i hear ya bro , i don't think it will work either , it's a real drag , the only electric guitar i've played for 20 + years and the only one i want to play, better stock up now on some used hamers...................

just to add my $.02 to the convo............... hamer has become an elitist brand , they were not always that way, they are no longer interested in selling a great handmade instrument that the everyday working stiff can afford , they wanna make that same studio they've been making for 30 years with some more bling on it and sell it for $4000. that's cool, it's their company, sucks for most of us though.....................

+++++1 a nice little 15 - 20 watt tube combo running wide open is a thing of beauty , it's all i use anymore and can't ever see needing more , we play once a week outdoors in front of 1000 people , my little super champ xd with master on 8 is perfect , i did modify it with a new larger output tranny and now run 2x6l6's which takes it from 15 watts to about 20-22 watts , an eminence rajin cajun in the amp and a 20 year old boogie compact 1x12 with the original black shadow are my speakers (love the combo of one open back speaker and one closed back together) , happier than ever with my tone and just enough headroom to compete with a very loud drummer, B3 with leslie and crazy loud fiddle player....................

I'm down with that. My Marshall Artist 3203 is a SS pre/tube power hybrid. A poor man's JCM800 for sure. I think what we're gonna see is mostly original band guys in this thread and cover band guys in the SS thread. peeps rave about those artists , gotta try one someday..............

great point, to me the key is a tube power section, i can live with a solid state preamp into an alltube power section, not vice versa however.................

I agree, If you get a Hamers in the hands of a player? They are gonna come back to them. I always have as most of you have? yes but i can't afford a new one , i used to buy em new 15-20 years ago, they were pricey then but an absolute bargain, i want a newport , i am thinkin maybe tax return time, no way i can buy a new one , if they just lowered their prices by 25-30% so you could buy a nice american made guitar for $1400(studio) - $1800(newport,monaco) people would buy em in droves, forget all the fancy corksniffer inlays and B.S , make a real pro's guitar that a working musician could afford , alas i don't see it in the cards unless their biz tanks , they can't be doing that well in this economy , no one is , who knows???????????
