I don't think that shape TRC has been used on any Gibson copies since the 80's so it might have been a legal issue, perhaps changing that was enough to get Gibson's lawyers off Hamer's back.
-
Thanks. I guessed It had to be a legal issue, the old ones look so much better. I'll discuss it with Mike when the time comes.
-
+ 1. The "new style" TRC's bug me too and I have requested an "old style" one like the 4 digits had. Does anyone know why they changed to the less attractive type ? FWIW You can get the engraving done at any key cutting place.
-
I was hoping Mike wouldn't mind mine being un-chambered with a thin veneer just like the old 4 digits (or no veneer at all as it's hopefully going to be a solid colour anyway. I don't have anything chambered to play to decide if it's a good thing or not ((I don't really mind about the extra weight) and I like the sound of my non chambered Standards a lot. I await his word on this (no pressure) and am looking forward to seeing the first ones then I can think harder. Might just go with the flow and save the non Ultimate spec for a custom order later.

Not a fan but at least it's easy to see where they're pointing. Like the Tophats that go to 11 though.

Crass I know but........................
-
Ahhhhhh...... The good old dayze.

So if Hamers' catch phrase was "The Ultimate", would Shishkov be "The Definitive"? "The Uttermost"? "The Paramount"? "The Consummate"? Also, how soon before the book? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcOSwyQkzYo How about "it's the Shish"

Happy 4th of July. Independence (from Fender) day ?

Are we there yet ? No. Are we there yet ? No. Are we there yet ? No. Are we there yet ? No. Are we there yet ? No. Are we there yet ? No. Are we there yet ? No. Etc......................

DID YOU SAY THERES A BOOK ALREADY CHRIS, THAT WAS QUICK. Damn caps locks................ No idle speculation or hassle here, i'm happy to sit back and wait for Mike to get back to me when he's good and ready.
-
We all need to ensure there's no let up for him, spread the word to everyone worldwide. Shiskov guitars got any endorsees yet? Anyone know anybody in the Guitar publication business so we can get some publicity? Surely (I know, I know, don't call me surely) Rick needs a new 6 neck and a spare ?
-
Hamer should have gone after Gibson when Gibson started producing Explorers with Flame Maple tops and bound bodies.
-
We're all used to the long wait times for C/O Hamers but iirc the custom shop was pretty much run around other business. There was no-one working full time on the custom builds hence the long waits. Not sure how much time Mike is expecting/planning for each guitar to take but my guess is around 1 week (excluding drying times). Is this a reasonable estimate or am I talking horseshit again ??

Does anyone have the correct Paypal address for the deposits yet ?
-
Whooo hoooooo, looks like I got lucky. As soon as I know the PP address to send my deposit to the money will be on the way. It's not admin@shishkovguitars.hikarate.a2hosted.com is it ? Mine will be a all Mahogany Standard, Rosewood fingerboard, bound and crowned probably in a solid colour, (White or Black when I can make up my mind). If Mike is happy to do some small tweaks (at additional cost) I'd like the frets over the binding if possible, un-chambered, and with the smaller slot shaped control cavity (like the early Standards) a round Toggle switch route, old style ABR1- stop tail and an old style Truss rod cover. Not sure on the P/U's yet but as I've just copped a set of Gregwinds from the "For sale" section (thanks Currypowder) they may be the ones I'll use. I'll discuss this further with Mike once the builds start but if my tweaks aren't possible then I'll take what I can get and still feel bloody lucky to get in. Pretty much what I was hoping we could persuade Hamer to do as a final run. Considering the interest Mike has had it proves that there would have been plenty of customers for one but I guess they would have wanted a whole lot more then the very reasonable price Mike has set. Is the body shape going to be exactly the same as a Hamer Standard ? I'll also be interested in placing a second order when the "list" price for a custom order has been established. My first new guitar since I persuaded my Mum to sign the finance papers for a L.P. Goldtop Deluxe in 1977.

I think you're number 13 Bubs . Looks like there may have to be more than just 12.........
-
Excellent news. I've filled in the form for an all Mahogany Standard. Good luck to Shiskov guitars and thanks for getting this up and running, much appreciated. By my count of the in's on here I'm number 10 or 11 ? (I hope).

Super nice !! -
Almost the HFC tree fiddy mark so I would say bloody well done, a great score. Nothing even comes close to a USA made Hamer for that price.

More on the Black Star Riders Gig please Chris............ I loved bound for glory, almost classic Lizzy..
-
Nice one. I enjoyed listening to that far more than any of the airy-fairy, namb-pamby crap Def Leppard have put out recently.

The infamous pinch harmonics -any great moments?

Thats a guitar solo. Hard to believe it's a hard tail Strat. I didn't get much of Ozzy's stuff after Randy's death, it seemed a bit desperate. -

Well, he was pretty bad ass back in the day. Then well... I think it just got easier to be in the Zakk Wylde business. That was 9 minutes of my life wasted.................. Don't normally mind being wasted (and I know its only Rock n Roll etc and is expected in the Ozzy scenario) but that was one of the most boring and self indulgent guitar solos I've ever heard, I kept hoping it would get better but it didn't, is this the peak of his ability?Anyone got a better example of Zakk's playing ? Not saying I could do better (for sure) but mostly it seemed to be the same couple of phrases over and over again. Must admit to not having searched out any of his stuff before now and don't think this is going to make me want to. Much respect to Zakk for making it so far with such a limited vocabulary. -
Led Zep Getting Sued Re: "Stairway"
RichRS6 replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Tosh. Page/Randy ripped it off Mary Poppins from 1964. Slow it down a bit put it in C and Chimm chimminy chimm chimminy chim chim cheroo..........etc................. If Randy had thought Page had ripped it off or had a problem with it I'm sure he would have sued years ago, this is Randy's family trying to rake some more money in by scoring a songwriting credit to Stairway.
