1: Four Digit Natural B&C Standard (the one that belongs to Tokyotapes). 2: Vector with a Standard headstock (In Peters collection). 3: Sunburst with a Dan Armstrong Headstock, either the one which was owned by Billy from Rockpile (the custom arch top currently in Disturbers hands would do at a pinch). Apparently I've exceeded my disk space for attachments (how do I fix this ?) so can't post up the pics I have of these beauties.

2013 "Buy No Guitars" Challenge - **WINNERS ANNOUNCED**
RichRS6 replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I hear that this is going to be a big year for people to be clearing out attics and I'm still looking for Standard No 2 so theres no way I'm getting involved plus I've already committed to buying another Sunburst in January. Could be a very long wait........................................................... -
A great musician and ambassador for indian music.

Hmmm, hard to say what I would do, it would be difficult to make the luthiers who are the heart of the workshop leave a (reasonably) secure job to try to revive a brand that would need some serious money, marketing, and time before it was a viable business again. If FMIC had asked me a Year ago what to do with Hamer here's my answer. I would forget about USA made mass production models and leave mass production for the import line, the imports are now of such good quality it's hard to for a casual guitar buyer to see what justifies the massive price difference. Keep Hamer USA for custom orders only and get some serious endorsement deals with high profile guitarists sorted so there could be signature models brought into the import line and make copies of the endorsees guitars available as USA custom orders for those who can afford them.

Well, it was fun....... but it's over.

Maybe Rick can sell off some of his collection to finance buying the company ! -
Good point. I'm sure there are other brands finding the trading climate very difficult. Who could be next ?

Very sad news. IMO (the general poor market for guitars not withstanding) Hamer/Fender got it wrong by not getting the guitars into the hands of players, no exposure = no sales. They seemed to do ok in this respect during the 70's - 80's with Cheap Trick, Lita Ford, Andy Summers, Martin Barre etc etc. Now without checking the Hamer website the only endorser I can name is Kev from Hell. In recent Years the brand seems to have become more about the import models which would be fine if they had some endorsees using their high end models, youngsters who are learning to play will look to buy the same instruments they see their heros using and hopefully move up to the U.S. built models as they progress. It really doesn't matter how much better than Gibson or Fender the guitars are if no-one but us want to buy them there can be only one outcome. It makes no real difference to me if the company is no longer there, the last new guitar I bought was well over 30 Years ago and (apart from maybe making a custom order) nothing in the recent product line really moved me anyway. I'll still be looking out for 4 Digit Standards and Sunbursts because I love them and I don't give a fu(k if their value goes up or down, if anyone here is scared about the future value of their "investments" please PM me and let me know what you've got. -
Thats a beauty alright.

The Queensryche saga -long read, but it's worth reading.

Interesting that Tate is announcing the "new' Queenryche on the internet when as far as I can see ownership of the name is still in legal dispute. What will also be interesting is how long the hired guns will put up with his bad attitude. -

The live footage proves that at least some of the accusations levelled at him by the other band members are the truth. If he had spat at me (or my gear) during a show he'd need a wheelchair to take him home. -

Johnny Ramone married Joey Ramone's Ex girlfriend. So I guess technically it wasn't "within" the band, but that's still just as divisive. Ahhhhh I get it ! -

Maybe some guys are more worried about making sure there is a show for the people who showed up. Yeah, wait until after the show then let him have it ! -

It seems none of these guys have seen Spinal Tap. NEVER let Wives or Girlfriends (or Husbands or Lovers etc) get involved with management, A&R or anything to do with the bands musical or financial business. -
Put that crack away it's giving me a hard on.

It's a big pair of pink fluffy mules to fill alright and just because you can get your foot in doesn't mean you're cinderella. But what are you gonna do if you get offered that gig ? He has some balls to take it on given that the majority of Queen fans will probably hate him no matter how good he is.

Another LONG rant about people not paying for music
RichRS6 replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Zen, my post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. My point was not about what theft is but if that term can be applied as equally to an intangible or intellectual property as a physical one. It can and should be IMO. I like to argue too !! -

At least with a used CD someone has, at one point paid for it so the artist has had a payment. I'm no expert but with the "olde worlde" model once the record company advance was paid off royalty payments will still keep on coming in year after year so long as the product keeps on being bought and played on the radio so the artist is going to make money after this point. If you take or use someone property physical or intellectual without payment IMO it's theft, different types of theft but still theft . -

I'm with Special K and Gorch, I'd rather have a tangible product in my hand than just the file on a hard drive somewhere. If I want to listen to it on my phone or in the car I make copies for my own use (which is perfectly legal AFAIK) and this way I know the artist is getting their share of the price I pay.
