  1. 1980 ish I had a 60's Strat that had a John Birch neck on it, at the end of a particularly good set I did the guitar hero thing, running the neck up and down a mic stand etc generally abusing the shit out of it and as it was the last encore I didn't even notice until I came to put it away later that I'd broken the headstock right along the line of the tuner holes. It was a very clean break so a bit of wood glue and clamping set it right. God, when I think now about the terrible things I did to that guitar it makes me shudder. I can remember swapping the pickups for a set of Dimarzio SDS1 and looking at the windings and thinking they looked very poorly wound so I chucked them in the bin.
  2. The first clip is a Tarantela. If I remember my music history thats named after the spider because after a bite people would twitch about wildly. Great playing, he's not bored though just enjoying his lofty position at the top of the musical tree. P.S. Mitch, I tried but my bid of $350 was rejected and now he says he's keeping it.
  3. Tempting, but U.K. customs will charge me anyway regardless of its country of origin. I could possibly argue it with them but that would drain the remaining life force from me.
  4. If it's not finished could the owner claim the unfinished part and have it finished off elsewhere ?
  5. I'd love the Marshall but by the time it got here with customs and postage it would probably be cheaper to find one in the U.K. GLWS.
  6. Bugger..... But somehow I don't think it will ever leave David B. As a testament to the skills at the Hamer workshop it's a fitting farewell. Good that you managed to get a bell TRC they look so much better than the strange shaped ones the later Standards had.
  7. If Sugartune isn't interested in the pair of 36th I am but he must have first refusal as it's his thread. So long as you can ship to me in the U.K. (i'll pay and P&P etc).
  8. I have a Lollar Imperial low wind in one of mine that sounds fantastic.
  9. Wasn't Greg at BCR looking for a technician/luthier ??
  10. Thank you all. Your skills are beyond amazing. Do you know if the remaining orders can be finished or is that the last Standard in your picture ??
  11. Holy shit ! What are the fuckwits at Fender playing at now ? Edited to add. So sorry for all those who have kept us entertained and delighted with the pictures of their skills over the years and their fabulous handiwork.
  12. I just sent a bell cover to them. It may or may not cover the route, I'm not sure either. If it fits properly, that will be cool. If not, I'll go with the new style which also looks good. It's an easy way to tell an old one from a new one, if the "standard" Gibson one doesn't fit you could easily make one up a similar shape.
  13. Feck ! This just gets better and better. I'd want a Gibson shaped TRC like the old Standards have but I don't think one would fit as the route looks too big. Is this the reason why they changed from the Gibson shape to the strange shaped TRC they use now ?
  14. Shame there wasn't room for the word Kidney
  15. Is Su funkjam her real name ?? . I think she looks like she's concentrating hard on getting it right rather than being bored, it can be hard to tell the difference. It's more important to get it right if your going to post it on line as millions will see it so she probably played it 10 times before a take was good enough to post and had probably lost any enthusiasm she may have had for the piece she was playing. Personally, I'd rather watch someone I can tell is having fun and making a couple of fuck ups. She still kicks my ass all day long, great playing.
  16. Looks like they ran out of money when it came to the inlays..
  17. Always a delight to see these in progress shots, even if none of the products will ever be mine the customers must be stoked.
  18. Thank you all. Some sensible information and suggestions here. I was expecting U.S. domestic flights to be a whole lot cheaper, looked at a couple of "compare the airline sites" and if I want a direct flight the cheapest I found was $670.00 with United direct from their website. Crunchee. I'm arriving in N.Y. on the 20th and making a day trip to Dayton on the 26th early so I can get back in the Evening, we return to the U.K on the last flight on the 28th.
  19. Just what I needed Cynic so I'll sort that out when I'm in N.Y. Thanks.
  20. Am coming over the puddle (no not Somerset, the Atlantic) to N.Y. on Friday and want to get a flight from New York to Dayton Ohio on Wednesday morning pick up a guitar and fly back in the evening. Anyone got any suggestions for cheap flights ? Is it best to book in advance or will ticket prices be cheaper if I do all that at the airport ? I don't do this sort of thing too often so any sensible advice appreciated.
  21. Not affiliated blah blah blah................... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310861622867&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:3160 Looks like a prototype case to me.
  22. I noticed the machine heads too, Schallers but with tuning keys shaped like Grovers.......... No bullseyes though !!
  23. Super cool, and no apologies required. Judging from the pics I think you were right to pursue them and nail them both pronto. You've got the bug bad now, it's a slippery slope but a great ride.
  24. The seller meestursparkle has been mentioned here previously and seems to have a good reputation as a dealer. The import duty would probably kill it for most of us but thats a real nice looking Standard..
