Rant and warning - Snake Oil Strings
Siaip Ciuvas replied to BadgerDave's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
can we then bombard guitar magazines with theese examples? I am sure there are thousands of frustrated customers around, wondering WTF happened with their money and where are those strings? -

Maybe Dean has nothing to do with daily production routines anymore, and the guys in charge bullshit him that "things are allright"? Maybe someone can email him via magazine so that the guy comes aware? -

I guess no strings arrived so far? I have tested SIT Powerwounds. They sound differently than SOBs (less midrange "bark"), but they stay in tune WAY better. Its been a week since I tuned guitar last time and just did slight adjustment on 1st and 2nd after extreme bending session. I have ordered a box of 10-46. Bye bye Snake Oils... -

Isn't it time for "I will call me credit card company" maneuver? Dainius -
I guess the main problem with the Marshalls is that there are millions of earless tools who failed to dial in "that" sound and where blaming amps, not themselves. I use JCM800 every day and even it has only 5 knobs to turn, it takes some time until you understand how to get really great tone (but you can get good tone easily cranking all of them to eleven ). I have heard that JCM900s are crap, but once I used one 1x12 combo found on rental backline and fell in love with it! I have had JCM600, now its touring and recording with one great Lithuanian guitarist (I had to sell it to rise money for JCM800 ). Even DSL401 was a kickass amp, and you can get them in UK for really small money! So yeah, my word would be try getting full valve one and you should be ok.

The Bill Armitage on Jol's Blog is NOT me
Siaip Ciuvas replied to Armitage's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
now we have a proof that this pityfull stranger is reading this thread. He uses now my nickname (half of it) in the comments. I have my hands itching to post a comment that the bastard should stop, but is there someone who can notify Jol about it? If we could get IP adresses of blog commenter, I guess it won't be difficult to spot the guy and kick his balls out of here. -

jeeez, saying "HFC is run by clowns" alone deserves a good kick in the nuts, as I have never ever found such gathering of top class individuals in one place! And if this was done intentionally using other's name... I feel pretty sorry for the sad person who did it. -

BillW - I am using Rock Formula on all my humbucker guitars, and must say you CAN use them for waaaaay longer than anyone can imagine, and they hold tuning well. But with the time tone degrades, and to me best indication that its time to change them when harmonics get too weak... However if you are not tone purist and can live without harmonics (or with half dead harmonics) - yes, they have amazing long life. Actually I don't remember when I broke snake oil string. And just remembered that on my Diablo I have them for over half year (but this is my home player, no sweaty gigs). -

Damit, I really like theese strings, and a bit worried that I have 1-2 months left of supplies... Last order took 4 months to arrive... Lets hope its not the end of the game for SOS and Dean sorts his crap out. In the meantime I am looking for alternative to their Rock formula, which I find are quite midrangy and have really nice "snap" to it... Any suggestions? -

Learned something new about shipping a guitar

I must say I really feel that UPS guys treat "Fragile" sticker as a "challenge"... They probably smash the parcel to learn "how much fragile it was". Still get chills remembering how close The Riff was from decapitating. Thanks god it was 3 inches too far for UPS forklift to roll over the case's corner. To add to it - I used to work for largets IT distributor, and during christmas all office guys used to go to help to the warehouse. When I saw how they are loading delivery truck... Good lord - monitors used to fly high, hard disks too, and not every landing ended in the safe hands... -
super THANKS for super cool person!
