  1. I can't believe that for a six year old thread ALL of these are still in widespread use!
  2. It takes a strong man to rock a pink guitar. I had one in my formative years... I insisted that my Kramer Focus 6000 was in fact "rotting flesh pink".
  3. That is some seriously straight grained mahogany right there! I love the contrast in the stressed neck too. Mine's really subtle by comparison.
  4. My first is a '96 Studio that I purchased here, from Caddie, in June of 2011.
  5. $200? Don't tell anyone, but I'll give you $350 for it so you can feel good about turning a profit.
  6. [quote name=tmsfo" post="601509" time="1352928057]I've got a GK 250ML that I tote around for an emergency. Size of a lunch box, loud as f**k, will drive a 4x12 no problem and has a XLR out. Lacks bottom end with the stock speakers but you could beef it up through a PA. It even sounds ok. As an added familiarity bonus, isn't it also the same weight as your primary rig? I recall those little guys being beastly heavy (long before class D amps were mainstream). Sorry to resurrect, but I've used the 44 Magnum's little brother and it sounds surprisingly good. I had a power tube go bad at a jam and fell back to the 22 Caliber. Not a lot of clean headroom but, per Ben's comment, it fits right into your rig (sans effects loop though) and sounded and felt really good. My drummer buddy was almost speechless. He's got good dynamics control, but we were able to rock hard enough to need ear plugs on some pretty heavy material through a 212. I guess now the question is who makes a class D portable guitar amp with an effects loop and a fair preamp section for folks who aren't using a distortion pedal in their main rig? Maybe the answer is a modeler's preamp outs into that power amp.
  7. While I've never played an import (I almost bought a Volcano over eBay the other day), I do regret not going in for a new USA model when I could have. I bought my Hellhound combo and Drivetrain (II?) when they had the etched aluminum tops available in blue and yellow with either like palm trees or a lava pattern. Regardless, I still have that Hellhound. It still rocks hard. I'd love to audition the Reverends against the PRS SEs, which have been some of the nicest lower-price imports I've played recently.
  8. Congrats to both parties on the sale! Looking forward to new pics in the NGD post to follow when you utterly fail to delete yourself from this effin web site.
  9. They're both very cool guitars.
  10. Even in post-viewing relief, I'm still not sure what possessed me to click the link... Nicely done HHB!
  11. Thanks for the tip on Witchcraft. I had a long drive yesterday and listened to the whole Graveyard album and I dug the whole thing. A few tracks surprised me a little, but in a good way.
  12. Thanks for the recommendation! Most of the bands these guys really draw inspiration from are before my time, but I've been digging stuff like Wolfmother and this a lot lately. In my mind, these guys went back to where they think rock hadn't yet lost its way and try for a do-over.
  13. Great points. RIP Ronni, and my condolences to all those so deeply affected by her absence.
  14. Because I like the way they sound and feel. Coincidentally I've owned all of them since before my first Hamer (just this summer thanks to Caddie), so it's unclear if the next guitar I get will be a Hamer or not. Hell yeah. Yep. Yes, but it's pretty broad. There are a few of the odd shaped ones that don't do much for me, but I could do the Daytonas, the superstrats, artists, specials... I have a Studio now. I would probably do a standard, but somehow the Monaco doesn't do much for me. Yes and no. Nothing I can think of, nothing, neither, guitarist. Nope. They'd be missing out on some serious quality, but plenty of successful musicians have survived without them. Not unless they signed a contract. In that case I think it was dumb of them to do that, but the "right thing" would be not to violate it. Sounds like you're a big fan.
  15. Redacted due to an absurdly time-lagged double post.
  16. I didn't mean to suggest that it would, esp. since I'm thinking I might like to try one of these all-mahogany guitars at some point. Does the veneer affect the tone noticeably vs. a non-veneered, maple-free guitar?
  17. Cool guitar. Is it the maple veneer style or the maple cap (Special FM?)? Edit: You know, for posterity, since the guitar's already sold!
  18. Tangled up in Plaid - Queens of the Stone Age It took a little while to grow on me but it definitely has. The chorus gets me every time but the verse mostly just serves to get me ready for the chorus. The part starting at about 20s has been infectious for me lately. In this case, the next major vibe in there doesn't work for me ("Looking for an accomplice..."). The rest of it's worth it though. I wouldn't give the white stripes the time of day when they first made it big, but eventually I softened up my prejudices enough to give Jack White a chance and I haven't been disappointed so far. That's an awesome track. I've always been weak in the shredding department, but this video has inspired me to give it another go. Thanks Brooks!
