  1. With regards to the finish choices at Shishkov, what should I order to get one that looks like this: "Late 50's" sunburst? It seems darker at the edge to me than a typical '59 burst and not as dark as a jazzburst...
  2. Brent - if you get in the initial run, I call dibs for when you flip it a week later!
  3. Like so? That looks like something from my kids' tangrams set. But in a goodish way? Mike - Have you considered adding ROWYCO finish options that include cross-shipping it to Stike? If you deadbeats don't botch your deposits like I'm hoping, I'm gonna order the sparklingest neo-Standard I can get.
  4. Man. Talk about late to the party... Thanks a lot AdBlock Plus...
  5. Happy belated birthday Stike!
  6. Sweet! And I'll take your Blitz! Huzzah!
  7. Why do you think they have the blues? All their royalties are going to pay each others' lawyers...
  8. It came standard on those models. It was much later they realized it belonged in the amp or in a pedal. I mean, there's animal animals and then there's cats...
  9. Happy Birthdays all!
  10. Beautiful. What a way to go out.
  11. So, where'd we leave off on this one? Too soon? :-/
  12. That sucks. I wish you all the best of luck in finding new gigs and weathering this loss. Thank you for all the hard work and the magical instruments over the years.
  13. Me too! That was a great post to start the thread. I like the story-in-pictures approach. When you decide which shredders you want to move, PM me. I've had the itch lately and I know we're close by. Plus you have a ton of guitars I'd love to check out anyway.
  14. I'm playing along from the sidelines since I missed the 12/15 deadline. Congrats to those standing strong and congrats to those who've acquired something wonderful!
  15. Andrew's site has a 92 price list here: http://www.buddlejagarden.co.uk/hamer/92price.htm $800 for the Diablo, $1500+ for the Centaura, and $1700+ for the Cali.
  16. That's so true. What's the story with the BCR Burst? I found a few pics online, but I've seen 59 bursts that look close to that too...
  17. Won't really know until Monday. Barely got to strum it a few times this afternoon and the weekend is pretty booked. So how was Monday?
  18. Teuffel's Tesla is like that too: http://www.teuffel.com/english/guitars/tesla/neck.htm
  19. JT - I'm glad your post had a happy ending. I was starting to give up hope towards the end! Jay - Awesome.
  20. Thanks to Kiz, I had the pleasure of playing that one at the book signing. It's definitely righteous.
  21. There's a lot of guitars still hiding from this thread. Where's the punisher these days? Veatch's bound artist? Serial's blue burst standard? Camstone special? The purple topped sunburst I played at the Rocketeria book signing? The list goes on and on! If I wasn't lying awake typing this on my phone I'd be posting pics of some of these...
  22. I've not owned a Sunburst but I have an '83 Special and briefly owned a MonEl. I really like the sustainblock bridge, so I'd probably pick the Sunburst because of that. Between the two that I owned, the fit and finish was probably better on the MonEl. The Special is put together well, but the lacquer is chipping along the fretboard and the flat top gives it a more utilitarian, less refined feel. It was also way blingier... victory inlays, ivoroid binding, glitzy top, beautiful '59 burst. At any rate, the Special has that sort of vintage vibe to it. It's lighter, it feels more delicate, for lack of a better word. It was also like 1/3 of the price of the MonEl, which is probably why I kept it and took the MonEl back in a fit of responsibility. In short, you can't go wrong either way. (edit) By which I mean I couldn't point to a single meaningful fault in either instrument, period.
  23. The SigX is on my want list... I've got a Deliverance 60 right now and any time I think it's "not enough", I just goose the volume a little to remind me of how it can roar. Murkat raises a great point... There are lots of other distortion sounds that I can't reach with my rig (esp. fuzz tones), but they're sounds that I seldom go after for original music, so it's not been a big deal for me.
