I posted that here not long ago. great, great guitar. I don't know about better but certainly different. I have owned 2 1979 Hamer Sunbursts but never owned one of these. I talked to one guy who owns one, a member here on the HFC and hopes of him selling me the one he STILL owns. He decided to keep it..................smart guy that he is. It is a rare guitar, not many made as is mentioned in the listing. It is a beauty!    iUwDB9l.jpg

We'll never know, it did not even allow the make offer, quite pricey.

But if there are so few it is to be expected that they are more collectable than an original one from the '70s.

I don't think so.  As I remember, they have really skinny neck profiles.

I don’t think these have skinny neck profiles.  These were a small run (Maybe 8-10?) offered to the HFC at the October, 1999 Open House in New Hartford.  I know a guy who ordered two that day - one quilt/one flame.  People were able to select their tops for those as well.   The ones I’ve played had the typical “New Hartford” profiles.  Definitely not skinny, like the ‘89-91 Sunburst models.

I can't remember who owns the one here on the forum, but it is a nice one.

The guy I'm referring to has a username that had "Strat".............as part of his UN.

It's the '89-91 models I'm thinking of!  Thanks, Chris.

I had one of the SB99s. It was quite amazing. Shouldn't have let that one get away. It had a nice medium neck, larger than the Sunbursts I've played.

Larger?

I may like this neck more, but I don't think I would trade my '79 sunburst for one of this. Even if more valuable due to the few built, for me a reissue is always second to the original.

Yeah something is certainly only original once......................this one is Hamers second try at doing somethings that the original didn't have...................and of course you have the exclusivity of the build. IMHO not a better guitar but a different guitar. I have owned 2 Sunbursts from 1979 and really liked both of them, but I would definitely enjoy owning one of these.
