Disturber Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Guitar tech says it's his favourite guitar. Is it the same guitar that is in the ebay ad? Quote
scottcald Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 I thought the tech said Sneap’s is an 81. The ebay says 82. 1 Quote

Trust me, its the same guitar. Look at the missing chip on the top body cut by the binding. It's been listed as an "80, '81 and a'82. It's either an '81 or an '82 @serial would know better than I. The question has been raised its is a factory refinish and de kahlered which I do not know. Check on instagram bigredroadiegram the serial number is posted.... Hamerica 1 1 1 Quote

One would think that it would rise the price. The tech mentions the re-finish and points at the original red finish by the back cavity side. But I do not doubt that you are correct. Just very strange. Perhaps it was sold originaly without disclosing the fact that it had a Kahler removed? And therefore Andy returned it? The ad does not mention a removed Kahler, but this seems a bit fishy " The bridge and tail piece are both TonePros" and could be taken as a clue. Quote
zorrow Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Kev told me he “brainwashed” Andy Sneap into Hamer 😜 3 Quote

Per the official website https://www.glenntipton.com/hamer-guitar.asp The Glenn Tipton site states "..non-production model called the GT Custom. It's black angular body loosely resembled a Gibson Explorer. This guitar features a Maple fret board with black dot inlays, two Duncan and EMG Humbucking pickups, a Kahler locking tremolo and a white stripe outlying the body shape. " It goes on to explain his rationale. To me personally, it seems more akin to the Futura model. Smaller body with and extended lower horn. I like it greatly as I always gravitated to "pointy, sharp things my mother never told me to run with". Hamerica 2 Quote

Hamerica Well, now I have a closer look to it, it’s like a reverse and pointier Futura; well… it’s actually like a lefty Futura played in right-handed position! I barely remembered how that guitar actually was. Thanks for sharing the link! 1 Quote
