My 18-watt VHT TMB head (it has Treble/Mid/Bass controls instead of the usual Tone and Volume controls) is about as wide as a standard 50 (or 100) watt head, measuring 26 3/4 inches across; mainly because VHT used the same heavy steel chassis on their 'Standard' series model 18 watt amp (2 x EL84s) that was also used on their 36 watt (4 x EL84s) amp.  My Mojotone 18-watt replica head (originally built by and purchased from HFC member Fractal several years ago) is at least 4 inches shorter and MUCH lighter in overall weight than the VHT version, but it holds its own against the VHT just about equally sound-wise and output-wise.  Guess which one I prefer to move around, even if it's just in my apartment?

I use the matching (again, 26 3/4" wide) VHT 1x12" birch ply speaker cab with either amp head, mainly because a 1 x 12" speaker is all I need for home use; but also because I hate having guitar heads wobbling around on top of, and hanging off of, the sides of smaller 1x12" cabs.  Even so, it's still not much fun to schlep around.  Of course, getting older every year is a BIG factor anymore when it comes to amp size and weight.  <_<

@butcher What is the third guitar from the left? Dan Armstrong headstock and a triple bucker, is it a Hamer?

These are my bedroom amps. That is a 50 watt 4010 1x12 Marshall combo, same as the 2204 head. I also have a Marshall JTM50/Artiste 2x12 combo in the other corner. What's not to like? I sleep very well with these next to my bed.

All those guitars are homemade.

Since this is kinda a “Marshall” thread, I just wanted to put this out there. I get the feeling that players think that these Marshalls are impossible  to find, but frankly they are out there. You just got try to find one that still has the original transformers. Mods can be undone, parts can be replaced, a ratty old beat up Marshall is 10x Better than NO Marshall.

Second are you looking or a Plexi? I highly recommend Rockitt Retro. I purchased my used (50watter) from a GC, and when I got it home I of course pulled the chassis from the headshell. The work is impressive, no detail missed. Built by one guy including the cabinet, panels, chassis made for RR in the St. Louis Area. I reached out to Kevin and he hit me back to give him a call. He walked me through the amp, I sent him pictures of the Chassis, he deemed it stock and made me aware that as long as no mods get done to it, the Lifetime Warrenty follows the amp to each owner. We discussed cabinets and tone for a long time and I purchased a 2x12 from him that should be done in Late February/Early March. He also builds cabinets to order, what ever you want and he does it himself.

I forgot to mention the PPIMV is amazing and he also does a 76’ Model with PRE and Post
