After all these years, I still cannot get what they're doing. I had a fraternity brother who was a great bluegrass picker (guitar and mandolin) and another friend much later who had done Nashville session work in the late 80's early 90's. I never could get the overarching philosophy behind the barrage of notes.

The Albert Lee Advanced Country Guitar video with Askold Buk is the Rosetta Stone for that stuff, I think. I’m sure you can find the videos on YT, and the book with transcriptions and supporting comments by AB is a game changer, if you’re looking to learn more of that style. 👍

The C&W players are the fastest and most precise players I've heard growing up. As a kid, I'd be glued to the tube watching those fast fingers of Roy Clark on the Hee-Haw tv show.
