stedge Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Has anyone compared a savoy vs a good 335? Not fit and finish - just playing and sound and general impression. No way for me to compare in person. Unless i buy both. No no no. Quote
Willie G. Moseley Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Sonically they're going to be pretty different because of the bodies' differences in construction. 335 = laminated front and back with separate side piece, Savoy = hogged out block with cap. I bought my first Savoy because of the ergonomics. For a thinline-shaped guitar, it was incredibly comfortable. When I sold my collection (piece-meal over several years) my Savoy was the only Robin I kept. 3 Quote
The Shark Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 My Savoy was consecutively built with the first Kizanski #1. It's a totally different animal than my 335's. Thinner with a carved top. Sounds very much like them, however. The Rio Grande pickups are the real difference. Dark and really expressive, when you dig into them. Great guitars. The Kizanski and the "matching" Savoy... 6 Quote

stedge Posted November 6, 2025 Author Posted November 6, 2025 Thanks, also. My assumption has been one could get similar sounds despite the build differences. And then the ash bodied one might be brighter. Shark, you do have some special guitars. Quote

Not Historic or Custom Shop. Just fantastic. Took it to practice Tuesday night... 3 Quote

I was trying to be cute, but that nuanced shit often does not play from behind a keyboard. That's really a nice Ibby. I like those smaller semis, too. 1 Quote
