I've posted it here many times: I still love Iron Maiden's first seven albums. They started losing me with Fear of the Dark, and at some point over the last twenty years, it seems that most of their songs have morphed into dirges with long, slow intros and outros that sound like soccer stadium chants. When Martin Birch retired, i feel like the band lost its edge. IMHO, Kevin Shirley has done virtually nothing to restore that edge.

Of course they're selling out stadiums on tour, so they must be doing something right.

Wow, you have a very high pain threshold. I never made it past, “Piece of Mind.”

I'm a Paul Di'Anno fan and didn't get past Number of the Beast

It went down hill from there. The rhyme of the ancient mariner is 13,5 minutes of pure torment. And it's now even their longest song.

I turned south when they B-sided, “Crosseyed Mary.” The band comes in with this ripping intro, then Bruce ruins it by singing the vocal an octave higher. Oy.

Me: “Oi, Bruce! That’s some-kinda-vocal-or-other on the Tull tune.”

Bruce: “Ta, mate! I have a falsetto voice.”

Me: “Is that right? My grandad has a false-setta teeth.”

True, but Aces High and 2 Minutes to Midnight are bangers.

My first Maiden album was Number ... after seeing them play at a Day on the Green in Oakland a long time ago. Then bought the first two albums and I made it through Powerslave and enjoyed it all,  even Rhyme otam ! Not sure why but didn't follow them after for some reason

Yes, that album could have been as great as TNOTB.
