Ham Rex Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I thought I read someone was looking for this guitar. It's a sweet guitar... I think. https://reverb.com/item/92398325-hamer-special-1982-red-cherry 6 Quote

bry4321 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I may be wrong but it looks like that could clean up pretty nicely! 1 Quote
mrjamiam Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I went to check my own red '82 Special in its cracked lacquer glory because I was a little suspicious of the logo placement on the headstock here, but mine is in pretty much the same place. Alignment varies across the years though, at least on my rack. My own's 2 5xxx serial number is in the usual position across the top of the backside of the headstock, though. 2 1 Quote
Steve Haynie Posted April 22 Posted April 22 The listing mentions a headstock repair. Maybe the original serial number was lost and restamped. 1 Quote

I originally thought that too, but it looks as though the repaired crack is off to the side "following the tuner mounting screw line"... Like they tightened the tuner screws too tight or shock trauma?.. then just glued/clamped back together... old 44 year old air dried brittle mahogany. Edited April 22 by Dave Scepter 2 Quote
