WANTED: Hamer Steve Stevens

I wanted a Steve Stevens back in the 80's when it hit the racks. But the sticker price put them out of my reach to me back then! I told myself if I ever had the means I'd get one. Well, I am on the hunt! I am interested in any Steve Stevens model -- 1, 2 or Protoype however the first version is my favorite. The guitar should be in good, playable condition and not abused. Any color will work fine although white or black would be my first pick. I don't know how long this post will sit before I get bites but I can see myself collecting a few of these guitars for a few years to come. Thanks for your consideration.

I have a gold SS1 Custom (crown inlays, ebony board) I might part with. The guitar plays great, but it's nicely beat up and has a different pickup switch (and maybe some changed pickups) but no breaks. It also won't be $800. If you'll be happy with a beater, let me know.

You should snap-up Davids gold one, customs are getting kinda scarce, that's a cool color too.

I remember seeing a greenish SSII custom in a local shop in '87 or '88, back when I was cutting firewood to pay for community college, and it was tagged at about $1800. Lets see, I was getting about $80 a cord for Madrona, $60 for Fir or Alder, that was too much wood choppin for a guitar!

By prototype, do you mean a SS prototype?, or a Hamer Prototype or PrototypeII? My '84 ProtoII has controls and switching that is identical to my '87 SS1, I just wonder if Steve Stevens had anything to do with the Prototypes?

Wow, do you think it's still there? LOL

Well, there's the Steve Stevens II. But there is another model he played with a different body. A prototype of some sort? Perhaps someone has the answer. I'll try to post the ad here. It can also be seen on the Hamer vintage ads page.

David,

I'm interested in your guitar although finding an unmodified guitar is my primary focus. If you wish to post pictures or send them to me that would be great. I did see the one on eBay...

The Atomic Playboys guitar became the Centaura, but none made it out just like his, in my experience. He went over to Washburn USA and they made those style guitars for him.

I just gotta say: is there anything more gay l@@king than that SS pic?????

(not that there's anything wrong with that).

I was most interested in the guitar. But I was planning to ask if anyone here had any white boots like those that they would be willing to part with...

From what I know, Hamer built 3 instuments for Steve for the Billy Idol video shoot "Mony Mony". They were made before Stevens formed the Atomic Playboys.

Jesus, Roli.

You know how to jump in to a conversation! LOL

I love your style.

I'll take both. But I'm guessing these aren't for sale... now would someone please come up with the white boots already? LOL.

Love the H/S combination -- my favorite pickup configuration!

"I wanted to be a rock ‘n roll star instead of a banker or a plumber. My guitar hero was Jimi Hendrix, who always looked amazing. In the 80’s, to be honest, I was a big Prince fan. Man, that mother****** could dress. The first time I saw Prince was on the Dirty Mind tour. It was scary and it was shocking. It was really obvious that things were about to change because this mother****** was coming. I dug him; I thought he was the shit. I guess I really dug him because he was short – Prince is my short hero!

I think it is on the high start side. Does not even have crowns.

The same goes with the Fuscia on from Germany. This is the 3rd time I have seen it listed. Nice guitar, but sort of pricey

too high !! I wouldn't pay more then 500.00 for that 1

wasnt there a white ss-1 on ebay earlier this summer ?

I think you might be talking about the white SSll that was on there in the beginning of the summer. It was covered in stickers the guy said could be removed and it also had a pretty badly cracked but repaired headstock (surprise, surprise, an SS with a cracked headstock).
