sw686blue Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 http://www.davesguitar.com/products.html?13256 Looks awesome!!! Better hurry before I decide to take it for myself
cmatthes Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 That's a helluva deal. Although that "Black & White Granite" finish was a Standard color, I haven't seen a whole lot of Calis with it.Somebody jump on that!
ZR Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 SCORE!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank You for the head's up!!! It's shipping out to me today!!! Full report when I get it.
sw686blue Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 SCORE!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank You for the head's up!!! It's shipping out to me today!!! Full report when I get it. Good to hear that it's staying in the family! I was tempted to take it for myself but I'm no longer a floyd kinda guy (never was really). I already have enough trouble with 6 strings and a toggle switch
cmatthes Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Damn! That was quick...I didn't think they even opened for another 2-3 hours!!The early bird gets the worm.
ZR Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Man, I am sooo psyched! I've wanted a Californian for decades! Even when I bought a PV Destiny back in the early 90's it was because it was the most Cali-like guitar that I could afford (that was all pre-ebay / used guitar buying days). It wouldn't be my 1st choice in finishes but it's kinda cool and could be exactly what someone else wants. I would prefer just plain ol' black myself. Anyone w/ a black body to trade? Let me get it 1st and I'll take pics but it's supposed to be in "Excellent -" condition. Not bad for a 16 year old guitar. By the minimal wear on the top Floyd micro tuner it doesn't look to have been played very much. My other Hamer Floyd's are all down to just brass on the 1st 1 or 2 and wearing the black off on the rest. Anyway, I love the stadium logo and of course boomerang inlays in the ebony board. Thanks for the heads up again!!!Oh, one last thing; That single has been changed from stock, correct? It should be a parallel axis single I believe. Anyone got one of those around?
serial Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 My '91 Cali had a stock Duncan rail pickup in it (was on the warranty card even) ordered from the factory that way-looks identical to that one, so I'd guess it is original. You need a gold Hamer Floyd to keep the black from wearing off all of the time! Great score-NO WAY that was going to make it through the day.
kurtsstuff Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I have one in that finish but it's not that clean....give ya $650.00 for it.....hehe
Nuclear Wessel Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Great score!! I've got one like that too. Granite finish is a guilty pleasure around here.
Michael_ Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 For that price you basically stole that thing, excellent score on a sexy guitar. Keep the marble body! It looks awesome with the ebony and the boomers
atquinn Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Wow! Congratutions ZR, that's a helluva deal! That was made a year after the granite Cali I just got.-Austin
ZR Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I've heard good things about Dave's so I'm not too worried. He said that I'd have a 48 hour approval period and I can get my money back if I don't like it but...slim chance that'll happen!I did wonder why it was listed for so low. Of course I had to bargain him down to $350 to feel good about myself! Uh, just kidding.Anyway, he said, "Man, these Hamer's never last for long". So, I wonder why they wouldn't look over at ebay just to see what other ppl are getting for them. Hey, I'm not complaining here but it just seems like they're leaving money on the table. Then again, judging from some of the $118,000, $53,000, etc. guitars they have in stock maybe the old shredders are something they just want to turnover quickly. You guys got any Cali pics you care to post? I have a set-neck Chap Custom but the Cali will seem like I'm getting a hold of her younger, sexier sister. Hope she doesn't get jealous!
serial Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I believe mine was the Cool Rails, not the Hot Rails, but I sold the guitar years ago to another HFCer, so she would know better than me! As for Dave's, that's one of the very best shops in the world to deal with IMHO. I've dealt with them for years and BroChris has purchased from them since the 80s. A+++ and no worries. I bought a very clean, killer Phantom A5 from them earlier this year for the HFC-approved price.
cmatthes Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I got a basically brand new Goldtop 3-hole P-90 Duotone there last year for so damned cheap, I kept checking my statement to see if they were going to charge the other half of what it should have sold for!
silentman Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 great price. I remember 5 years back, I couldn't give away a cali elite in trans red for around $600.
