savethematches Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Dude can play! Not my style, but damn impressive!
edgar_allan_poe Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Not too shabby....way out of my league.BUTAfter having seen both phantomgt and Jack Butler shred...I would take either of those guys over this guy any day. No BS.

No BS. I don't disagree, I just thought he was a cool player. Believe me Kevin is a bad mofo...he and I have spent some serious time together playing and he always blows me away. The only teacher I've ever had or would consider going to here in town. And a great friend to boot!
SouthernShred Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 oh, here are a few friends of mine who I think are killer players as well. I have a lot of favorites Brett Funk Chad Coggin
Guest JackButler Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 All right...all right....break it up....nothing here to see! LOL!SHEESH!!!!!!!!!!!1 You guys trying to make me blush or what?!?!?Seriously, thank you both...Shannon and Rob...You guys...friends like you two..are the guys that truly blow me away. I am so blessed to know both of you and count you among my friends.
SouthernShred Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 the picture in his banner looks like a Cali Here are the guitars he endorses...very cool looking:Tagima
custom53 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Kiko reminds me of Stanley Jordon...Not my style here either, but check Michael Angelo (NITRO) out...http://www.compfused.com/directlink/603/
atquinn Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I like how he keeps his thumb over the neck and anchors his pinky, since I've heard both are bad technique, and I do both. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this means the only thing keeping me from being a virtuoso guitarist is my own inborn laziness. DOH! -Austin
tombo Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Kiko is HUGE here in Japan (as are many other shredders). His band "Angra" comes here regularly and he's always on the cover of Young Guitar magazine here.
formula73 Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Dude, I can't even stand in front of the mirror and fake guitar that fast.
jettster Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Killer player, what really amazes me is the kind of stuff this dude can pull off with such a dry/raw tone. Not many people can play that cleanly doing that. Aside from great technique he can phrase very well too.SouthernShred-You know Chad and Brett? They are both real good players from guitar war.Chad only lives 70 miles or so from me, I've been over and jammed with him on several occasions. He is going to host a huge Guitarwar meetup in a couple of weeks, should be 25-50 people there. Are you going? If so, I'll see you there.
BLuesBuster Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 That's very impressive, I love that precision combined with tasteful phrases. I wonder how long does it take for someone to aquire similar technique. That's assuming one has enough talent to boot, otherwise there's no amount of work that will help. This kind of playing mkes me feel guilty for hiding sloppy playing behind attitude for all these years
Michael_ Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this means the only thing keeping me from being a virtuoso guitarist is my own inborn laziness. It has nothing to do with being lazy, your hair is just to short.
kurtsstuff Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Standing slightly arched backwards, arms folded across my chest, judging the way he plays and thinking....yeah...it's pretty cool but....but did ya see his shoes..!!!!lol!!

It has nothing to do with being lazy, your hair is just to short. That's a relief; I'll just make an appointment for some hair extensions and I'll be all set
Armitage Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Not my style here either, but check Michael Angelo (NITRO) out... http://www.compfused.com/directlink/603/ I spent some time with Micheal Angelo Batio (rhymes with radio) on the weekend. Man that guy is unreal, a real nice guy too. He is just so UP... I think he drinks too much coffee of something Watching him play in real life is like watching a bad special effect in a movie, it just doesn't look possible. Here's his bio page with links to one of his movies. That over/under the neck thing is real... http://www.deanguitars.com/angelo/

I live down near JackButler in the Columbus/Phenix City area. I'm still debating on whether the wifey will let me go to Chad's thing coming up, but I want to go! I know them both from Guitar War. Brett and I probably are closer as I've been on his forum, Cyberjammin, for several years now. That's my main hangout I guess. Both those guys are unbelievable...heroes of mine that stay in my CD player.

In between Dawsonville and Cumming.Cyberjammin is a cool site, I've been over there a few times. Lot's of great players over there too. Usually not enough time in the day to check out all of the places I'd like to though.Hope you can make it. It would be cool to meet another HFC'er. I've only been able to meet your sidekick Kevin "Jackbutler" and John "ZR" so far.
