cornjulio Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I really really need a vintage special, white or graphics or red and maybe matching headstock! If there is someone who would consider selling one I´d be happy until the end of my days (hopefully not too soon). Cornjulio
Guest pirateflynn Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Keep your eyes open because they pop up from time to time around here. Funny username!
cornjulio Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 I had a few specials before but I should not have sold the last one. So called "friends" gave me that name. Could be worse I suppose...
BadgerDave Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 The graphics are pretty rare, but not impossible to find. Red is easier, and if you're willing to accept sunburst or amber, there are usually a few on eBay.

serial Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Graphic Specials DO kick ass. One of my all-time favorite guitars...
serial Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 can I have it?! I actually almost sold it to Kiz this time last year and for whatever reason, we never got together, which is good for me. I've rediscovered this one and remembered why I liked it so much. It doesn't have the really skinny neck that many of them to and it sounds great.
cornjulio Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Well I can see why.. What happened to the two potis? If you´re ever thinking of selling it...I saved some money for a guitar like this...
peedenmark7 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 hey steve thats a cool beer cup holder on your index finger
butcher Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 He's going for the twelvestring byrds sound. That's actually a sharkfin beerglass pick.Works great!!!
serial Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 It's a little awkward though. Particularly with a full beer. Actually, that's a Swirlygig-the design of the famous Sid, a dear friend of the HFC who designed and sells 'em. THE best non-musical gig purchase you will ever make.I pulled the knobs off at the beginning of the gig because they were a little loose and I didn't want 'em spinning off onto the floor mid-set. I actually liked having both volumes that way and although I'll put them back on before tomorrow night's gig, I've been playing them for the past month or more w/o.
cornjulio Posted April 28, 2007 Author Posted April 28, 2007 There´s a red special on ebay Australia but it seems to be doing a little too well... Also shipping will be quite a lot too... and I´d rather buy it from someone from HFC as they probably care a lot more about their guitars, right? I could offer a red 90´s studio in very good condition...
Nuclear Wessel Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 A natural Special showed up on E Bay today. It's a looker too! I know it's not one of the colors you were looking for, Cornjulio. I think the flame top looks awesome though. It'll be a fine instrument for someone. '80 Special on E Bay
kizanski Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 "I am unloading a 1980 Hamer Special..."Not the greatest opening line I have ever read.
Guest Meshuggah Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 And it doesn't even come "intunaited".That puts Silentman out of the bidning.
cornjulio Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 Guitar looks good though, as far as I can tell by the jpgs but you never know hoch much they go for. But I think the white and red ones are cooler. and the graphics... thanks for helping... I´ll see...

But I think the white and red ones are cooler. and the graphics... thanks for helping... I´ll see... I have a same looking 1980 Special serial n° 0 2197 (the one on eBay is 0 2190). I can tell you that mine is absolutely great in sound and playability (sort of D-shaped neck). Maybe that one on eBay is great too...
cornjulio Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 Bernhard, I trust your judgement on specials as you seem to own loads of them (nice photo . So maybe I go bidding a little...) Mathman, I think it´s probably "pussydepending"
serial Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 #0 2197... Hmmm, I'm wondering if that's the one I owned years ago (maybe 10)? The serial was something like that and it looks the same. Did that one come from the States? I sold it to a guy in NY IIRC. Really liked the guitar, but I was trying to stay within the one-in/one-out rule. Yeah right. That really worked out well for me!

I just found a pic with that one in it, Steve. Back when you had a few less Hamers! I think that you only have 2 left from that shot still (out of 8-10 or so).
Nuclear Wessel Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Did anyone see the other old Special currently on E Bay? It's greenburst. Looks a little like Washburn's Dimeslime finish in the pics. Also interesting.

Interesting, I bought her on eBay 3 months ago from a guy living in Huntington New York. She's a dream! I absolutely love her.
serial Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Interesting, I bought her on eBay 3 months ago from a guy living in Huntington New York. She's a dream! I absolutely love her.DINGDINGDING! We have a winner! That's the one. Great guitar-only moved it because I needed to raise some $$ in a hurry to pick up a four digit Standard (which I've moved along as well!). Good score for sure and glad to see it's being loved!
