Do you know if it was used on any recordings?the story behind that bass is, howie borrowed a hamer bass from tom petersson and liked it that much, that he ordered two B4S after he returned tom´s bass. he ordered a red one and this goldsparkle. the red one howie sold when he was still with us, the golden one he kept in his collection. after his death the howie epstein collection was auctioned and i had luck to be able the grab the goldsparkle. gerry
serial Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Bro Chris and I have talked to Ron, who replaced Howie who replaced him in the Heartbreakers and he mentioned Howie's Hamer four string. I would assume that it was that one. That's one of the coolest Hamer 4 string basses I've seen and to add it's lineage, it's that much cooler. The only ones I think I'd rank above that one would be Nikki Sixx's striped FB (if that's even still alive) or Pete Farndon's pink B04. That's a keeper!

gerry Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 here is the original comment from the howie epstein estate:the short scale 4 string was a special order from Hamer.Tom Petersson (Cheap Trick) told me that Howie had borrowed his Hamershort scale for a few months and then ordered 2 for himself. This was the only one in his collection at the time of his death. It's in excellent condition,and has its original hard shell case
