Stike Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I've got a Line 6 Vetta combo that's been on my local Craigslist for awhile with no bites. I've been putting off Ebay because I just don't feel like boxing and shipping this thing, it's a beast. I got an email yesterday from a guy a few counties over wanting to trade for a Carvin V3 half stack. I don't really need it but with the used Vetta market being softer than John Holmes after an eightball cut with salt peter I'm wondering if a tube head and cab would be easier to flip.

Stike Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 I was thinking more from the sell it locally standpoint. That and I've been mildly interested in the V3.
tafkathundernotes Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I find Carvin amps to be among the better-built amplifiers available, though I've not seen innards of the V3 specifically. As for resale, 5 of the heads have sold on ebay in the last 10 days for between $600 and $840 - several with a BIN. Their MTS series amps are quite rugged and sound great. If the V3 is anything like the MTS, I think it's a good deal.
Steve Haynie Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Harmony Central reviews of Carvin amps have contained tales of amp problems and customer service issues. It may be there were only a few amps that had problems, but the bad reviews are out there.
Scooter Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I'm guessing you have an original Vetta and not the Vetta II. I say that because the Vetta II's seem to sell quickly, but the Vetta I's don't have the appeal (maybe due to the "Judge Dread" handle on top). Or maybe because of the Vetta III rumor. Who knows?Anyway, I'd do the trade only if the Carvin is in great shape. Buyers nowadays are awfully gunshy of even the smallest signs of wear.
silentman Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 A former guitar player in my band has one now and swears it's the best amp since sliced bread. He's been thru a pile of amps since I've known him and the V3 is still around.
Stike Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 Trade will probablly go nowhere as dude has stopped corresponding but damn! No love for "softer than John Holmes after an eight ball cut with salt peter"? Hello? Is this thing on?
