BCR Greg Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 The only one of the 6 that I did a few years ago that had a bound and crowned board and cherry finish. The guitar is fantastic, but I have many fantastic guitars and shoulder surgery coming up. The black fuzzy bits by the jacks are velcro for my AKG Guitar bugs. I had to jump through rings of fire to get these made a few years ago, they were making archtop Duotones, and had not made Flatties since the Arlington Heights days. We did two natural, two Jazzburst a BCR Blue Sparkle and this one, the only one that was not a dot board. I added the pearl tuner buttons(BIG difference in weight and tone). I also removed the microswitch that selected either electric or acoustic, since I run both all the time and use the volume controls to blend. It will come in the rare checkerboard case that I also had custom made. The wife would prefer that I not sell it, so if I do not get my price, I will keep it. $2k, ugly shirt not included.
DavidE Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I expected it to be more expensive. Awesome axe.
BCR Greg Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 If you want to pay more, I'll toss in the shirt(but my kids got it for me, so you'll have to explain it to them!)
santellavision Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Tell me you're not playing "Stairway" in that pic?
DavidE Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 If you want to pay more, I'll toss in the shirt(but my kids got it for me, so you'll have to explain it to them!)Lol... I'm so fat that shirt would fit my leg. Unfortunately, I almost never play the 12 string guitars I have. I just picked up a 12 string Eclipse and need to sell my 80's Fender Strat XII that I haven't played in over a year. I have a Taylor 355CE that I pick up once or twice a year. If I could justify having a truly ultimate kick ass 12, I'd buy yours. That thing is just awesome. Butcher needs this guitar.
cornjulio Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 If you want to pay more, I'll toss in the shirt(but my kids got it for me, so you'll have to explain it to them!) What were your kids thinking? Oh...right...daddy loves guitars too Don't sell the shirt or your kids will still give you a hard time twenty years from now!!! Great guitar!
BCR Greg Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Tell me you're not playing "Stairway" in that pic? The Rain Song, actually.
DavidE Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Tell me you're not playing "Stairway" in that pic? The Rain Song, actually.Standard tuning or the original tuning? My son picked up some guitar several years ago and downloaded tab for the original tuning. I always faked it in standard tuning but the original tuning sounds so beautiful. It didn't really matter because I never played with anyone who could do the vocals justice. Zebra used to kick ass on that tune live in the clubs. Nobody else even tried.
HamerHokie Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Tell me you're not playing "Stairway" in that pic? The Rain Song, actually.I was gonna guess "Mr. Tambourine Man," Capt Kirk style.
BCR Greg Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Nah, you do that too well for me to try it, HH.

BCR Greg Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 C'mon, Matt! Call me and we can work something out......
tomteriffic Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Greg, does that have the later Kynar (or whatever it was called) pickup of the f-hole duos, or the original?
BCR Greg Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 The later pickup. It sounds amazing. I just have other things that require money.
santellavision Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Alright, what's the difference in the acoustic pups? The 3-hole vs. the f-hole versions?
BCR Greg Posted May 27, 2008 Author Posted May 27, 2008 The roundie's had Ovation pickups that were the whole saddle assembly, the later Duotone Customs have a proprietary "Kynar" under saddle pickup. When I had the 12 string Duotones made, they had to re-engineer the whole shebang, since the early Duotones were made in Chicago and the tooling was no longer used. They convinced me that the Kynar pickup would sound better for a 12 string, and they were not wrong.
Camstone Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 The Kynar pickup kills. I have owned a three holer with the Ovation pickup and now have my '05 Duotone Custom and the Kynar is really head and shoulders better. The Ovation pickup sounds like an Ovation, it's not bad, it is what it is. I really liked my three holer and owned both guitars at the same time for a while.I now play with a guy that has both a high end Taylor with their factory pickup system and a Martin HD35 with whatever Martin puts in and he is constantly giving me s**t that my electric guitar sounds better through the PA than his acoustics. I'm sure anyone that has played both can give you this same sort of statement (I think Geoff Hartwell has played both). This 12 string is it! If it were any color sunburst, I would have bought it the day Greg told me it was for sale.
BCR Greg Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Perfect guitar for those holiday gigs.I can guarantee that this guitar is terrific on "O Holy Night".
